Signs patient case reports and further explains patient results when appropriate. Performs microscopic evaluation of chromosome slide preparations and electronic evaluation of high complexity genomic tests to confirm preliminary assessments and to prepare final laboratory reports. Conducts occasional experimental research in a manner that is accurate, reproducible, and of publishable quality.Utilizes knowledge of scientific process and specific laboratory and experimental protocols and regulatory requirements. Has the ability to measure and document results. Uses oral and written communication skills, organization, and management skills. Comprehends numeric concepts and performs numeric calculations. Directs and conducts genetic, cytogenetic and/or molecular genetic research.
Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Clinical Cytogenetics or Molecular Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics orequivalent agency. Ph.D. or M.D. degreerequired. Experience managing a clinical medical laboratory is desired.
