Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Vice President of University College, the Director of Business Services is responsible for the execution and oversight of financial administrative operations of UC. The Director serves as a member of the administrative leadership team, playing an integral part in UC decision-making process on all non-academic matters. The incumbent is a staff member responsible for the leadership and planning for the areas of financial services and reporting, purchasing, travel, technology, budget development, personnel matters, operational implementation, facilities management and capital projects. The Director also works closely with the Office of Finance.

Provide financial management and fiscal consultation to management and administrative staff; plan and coordinate the preparation of the UC annual operating budget; evaluate the financial performance of departments; and perform budget analysis.

Prepare, monitor and deliver revenue and expenditure forecasting; oversee and advises management on current fiscal operations as well as short and long-range financial planning.

Review and monitor accounting, internal control and budget systems and recommends the formulation, initiation and implementation of revisions and modifications to improve efficiency of operations. Evaluate, monitor, and report on performance against goals to Vice President and senior management team by analyzing and interpreting data/metrics. Ensure that senior management has accurate, timely financial information to make resource decisions.

Provide monthly reporting on actual revenues and expenditures to the budget for the board approved annual operating and CAPEX budgets including:

  • semester projections of actual revenue and expense versus budget by census dates;
  • updates to P&L by existing program at end of each semester;
  • detailed projected P&L for new programs with back up information to support projections well in advance of date of implementation;
  • full year revenue and expense projections based on available information as requested.

Consult with the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration and Finance Division on all matters with a financial impact to UC budget operations.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or a related discipline. Minimum of seven years of finance and operations experience. Possess strong operations and fiscal management skills with knowledge and experience in personnel procedures. Display an open and collaborative style with the ability to negotiate and solve complex issues addressing the needs of all constituents, and a strong commitment and support of diversity, equity and inclusion. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interact with faculty, students, visitors and staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong organizational skills, including high attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to multi-task successfully in a fast-paced university environment. Knowledge and substantial experience with financial software and databases.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in business administration or a related field. Experience in a higher education institution.
