POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Business Development is responsible for business growth in the Advisory Service line to include identification and development of early-stage leads, presentation to decision makers and negotiations that lead to closure for new hospital contracts within a defined territory or segment.

This position is responsible for organic growth efforts within a defined territory or segment to include development of lead generation tactics (e.g. meetings, telemarketing, networking) and strategy to lead response to inquiries, RFPs and bids.  The Director Business Development conducts market research and initial outreach to hospital executives, C-suite, Directors of Case Management and Utilization Management via telephone, e-mail, direct mail and in-person at conferences. Information gathered from market research and initial outreach is used to further qualify hospitals as viable prospects for SAS services leading to the development of viable leads to the point of securing an initial meeting or business presentation. 

The Director is responsible for development of customized materials and application of the correct model and solution set that addresses client needs and pain points.  Materials presented to prospects include, but are not limited to, overview of Sound and differentiators, site assessment of performance data, pricing models, estimated return calculations, etc.   These presentation may be supported by the SAS President, CMO, or VP of Business Development.  Contract negotiations will be led by the Director, supported by VP Business Development, until execution. 

This position will have remote and in-person sales responsibilities to include presentations to c-suite, executives and physicians as well as meeting and engaging with prospects at tradeshows and conferences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Research specific markets to generate target hospital clients and map out competitive environment.
  2. Maintain database to retain research information.
  3. Create reports to analyze and interpret data.
  4. Prepare materials that address client needs and position Sound Advisory as a partner.
  5. Schedule and lead meetings between prospects and representatives of Sound.
  6. Lead negotiations, contracting and follow up process to successful closure of accounts.
  7. Follow guidelines in annual sales and marketing (business development) plan.
  8. Work closely with internal marketing team on various initiatives for SAS such as, promotional campaigns, development of internal content, communications to colleagues and creative materials, including print, photography, video, social media and web content for SAS.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, TRAINING, OR SPECIAL LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB: 

  • Comfortable presenting and leading discussion to large audiences in person and over phone, including hospital CEO, CFO, COO, Physician and Nurse leaders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone and email skills.
  • Critical thinker with business savvy to apply strategic models that meet client needs and win business.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Client service oriented (both internal and external).
  • Creative and persistent problem solver.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.

  • Analytical mindset.
  • Must be very knowledgeable with all aspects of Salesforce.com sales management software and definitive Healthcare sales intelligence.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Education

Minimum:  Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field

Preferred:  Graduate level courses in business, marketing, or healthcare

Experience

Minimum:  3-5 years of sales, business development and/or marketing experience or an equivalent history of operational site management roles involving business development targets and client relationship management skills are required.

Preferred:  5+ years of healthcare industry experience

SPECIAL JOB OR ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Indoor office environment
  • Attendance at hospital sites, trade shows and hospital association meetings will be required, 25-50% travel.
