Summary:
The Director, Business Development, Research Operations has oversight responsibility for business development and industry partnerships and serves as liaison with corporate areas of finance, compliance, and legal. The Director will lead in development and implementation of research business strategy, including evaluating market dynamics, tracking research activity and performance, and gathering competitive intelligence. This individual will create and manage an effective industry pipeline establishing aggressive and realistic priorities, strategies, and metrics. Reporting to and in concert with the VP, Research Operations, the Director will facilitate collaborative partnerships with researchers and facilities to sustain research administrative infrastructure that result in superior inquiry and discovery. The Director will generate analysis and insight based on market data. In addition, this individual will lead, partner, and advise the VP, Research Operations in the development and execution of innovative business development growth strategies. In concert with the VP, Research Operations, the Director of Business Development will advance all aspects of business development, including growth of the research enterprise; principal investigator (PI) development, securing industry partners; business planning, decision support and analytics.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field. At least five years in clinical research administration; experience in clinical research finance and contracts, strategic planning, and industry relations. Knowledge of clinical research administration and a close familiarity with the FDA regulations and GCP expectations. Familiarity with CTMS, eReg, and research participant recruitment.
Proven financial management skills, capable of reaching closure and timely accomplishment of objectives. Knowledge of principles of interactive planning, participatory management and influence management. Skilled at executing strategy and problem solving. Able to direct the development of business plans and proforma. Ability to research in-depth business profiles on prospects and competitors, analyze market research and identify new opportunities and prospects for research growth. A high energy leader who is also able to develop and manage industry relationships and build loyalty, as well as develop new business leads.
Strong project management skills and follow-through from vision to execution, with measurable results to the research strategy. An individual highly motivated to work cross-functionally in order to accomplish goals and effect change. Someone skilled at uniting various constituencies to work together harmoniously to achieve high quality research. Excellent at team building and motivating people. Skilled at accomplishing goals through others.
Excellent interpersonal skills; a dedicated listener, comfortable in a variety of settings dealing with diverse constituencies; an individual of highest personal and professional integrity, principle and knowledge. Able to establish immediate credibility with peers, senior leadership, medical staff and the Board. A team player, good listener and consensus builder who truly values the input of others and their contributions, and positively responds to such input.

Licenses and Certifications:
Research Certification preferred (e.g. CCRP, CCRC, CRA, RAP); expected to be certified within one year of employment
