JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Operations and Business Development plans, directs and coordinates activities relating to H&R Block’s Expatriate Tax Services team.  Work closely with your team, regional tax managers, internal partners and vendors to ensure the development and deployment of customer-centric processes.  Seek new business opportunities in self-paid and B2B expatriate tax compliance market.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations Lead:
 

  • Develop the strategy and annual business development plan to achieve overall business objectives
  • Responsible for product development, client experience, training and quality assurance
  • Establish and track SLA’s to meet client expectations
  • Recommend product, tools and process changes to encourage continuous improvements for clients and internal teams

Business Development:
 

  • Develop and implement a go-to-market strategy focused on client growth
  • Identify, prioritize and execute on opportunities to grow through strategic B2B and marketing partnerships
  • Develop leads, manage the RFP process, negotiate contracts, and drive program execution as needed with support from internal business partners
  • Attend various conferences, trade shows, and events as prudent to promote H&R Block’s Expatriate Tax Services

Resource Management:
 

  • Provide leadership and ongoing status updates. Coach managers on interviewing skills, supervising techniques, performance management, and training options
  • Evaluate staffing needs and hire staff based on workload, timeline, and priorities
  • Monitor organizational productivity and provide staff members with technical direction and growth. Provide regular performance feedback to staff members
  • Conduct annual and quarterly reviews. Ensure that the management staff provides timely, accurate reviews for their staff

 
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements
 

  • B.S. or B.A. in Business/Accounting/Marketing or related degree
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a business management role with demonstrated ability to lead people and teams
  • 5+ years of experience in expatriate tax compliance programs, either as a client or a tax service provider
  • Proven track record in generating new B2B and marketing partnerships
  • Must have excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization from senior executives to staff level
  • Strong presentation skills necessary to communicate and influence a wide range of audiences
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning
  • Prior experience with RFP’s

 
Preferred Qualifications
 

  • CPA or J.D./LLM, or Enrolled Agent
  • Prior mobility tax compliance at an accounting firm
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing both online and grassroots marketing partnerships
