We are searching for a director of business development and strategy to lead the Maritime Sensors (MSENS) division business development team. Maritime Sensors is a division within the Maritime Systems sector and is comprised of 6 business units in the areas of SONAR and acoustic systems, Imaging/EO/IR systems, and Seabed/Subsea systems. Maritime Sensors businesses are located in California, Utah, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
This position will report to the Maritime Systems, Vice President of Business Development and the position will be based in the greater Washington, DC area. The Director, Business Development for MSENS will be responsible for directly contributing to the sector’s annual revenue target growth from its current $1.1B to nearly $2B by 2023. The individual filling this role must have leadership and mentoring experience, must have a proven understanding of business development processes, understand all aspects of building successful campaigns & pursuits, and must have a proven record of accomplishment of capture & business development success. Providing leadership and oversight of MSENS BD activities, this person will be accountable for directing all relevant activities that support strategic growth planning, the capture of new business, and protecting current markets. Additionally, they will be expected to drive synergies and when appropriate, seek collaborative partnerships internal and external to L3Harris that improves competitive positioning and drive increased content across the corporation.
This person will collaborate closely with the VP/GM of the MSENS division and work closely with all MSENS business units, the division leadership team and the sector BD staff as an advisor within a cross-functional and matrixed team, and leader in the execution of the common BD and capture processes.

Specific Responsibilities & Business Development Expertise:
This person shall be responsible for: establishing and monitoring a 1 to 3 year, and up to a 5 year orders forecast & plan; managing B&P resources; managing marketing resources; leading and managing a team of BD professionals and providing mentoring & guidance in the capture of business. In conjunction with MSENS division leadership, they will develop a strategic plan & growth strategy that is aligned with higher-level strategic plans. They will contribute to and maintain cognizance over division priority pursuits, Congressional priorities, the Sector strategic plan & growth strategy, Orders Pipeline & proposal forecasts, Division gating processes, Division pursuits and opportunities/plans; Proposal development (PTW, baselines, risk & opportunity, teaming, etc.) and accuracy of the Customer Relationship Manger (CRM) for MSENS opportunities. They shall inform and collaborate on external communications and trade show participation.
Customer and Market:
Understand the internal and external customer decision-making and funding processes. Actively participate in the execution of and engagement for BD initiatives across the sector, segment, and corporation (domestically & internationally) with a focus on customer interactions and technology integration. Assist in the sector, segment strategic planning process, and suggest appropriate analysis, which may include competitive market analysis, internal review of SWOT, and prioritization of opportunities. Maintain the orders pipeline and booking forecasts pertinent to the MSENS division for the Sector.
