Director Business Development ? Discovery

Reports To: Director of Business Development

Department: Business Development

Position Summary:

This is a sales management position responsible for generating the sales and managing the accounts of the company?s business

development organization.

Essential Job Functions:

?        Execute business development initiatives that are consistent with the company?s overall strategy.

?        Revenue generation and strategic partnerships development and management.

?        Confidently negotiate and close deals for fee for service business.

?        Cultivate relationships, manage accounts and secure opportunities for selling our drug discovery stand alone and integrated

services in Chemistry, Biology, DMPK and Pharmacology.

?        Interact with members of the management team to secure new business opportunities.

?        Maintain accurate and accessible tailored documentation i.e. presentations / proposals / agreements/ updates to meet client

needs.

?        Respond to Requests for Proposals.

?        Assist in the generation of Fee for Service Proposals / Contracts / Agreements, Client Service Agreements etc.

?        Interact with members of the management team to insure proposals / contracts are consistent with execution plans.

?        Update Business Development databases to include opportunities, proposals issued, approved projects, and BD activities and

other tracking indexes.

?        Present tailored presentations to existing and potential clients.

?        Strong client management and sales skills and ability to keep commitments.

?        Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation

?        Integrate with business development team, contribute to the work ethic, culture and values.

?        Act as the customer?s internal champion.

?        Responsible for lead generation and appointment setting

?        Represent the company at industry events and tradeshows with professional manner and polished appearance to gain new

business leads and contacts

?        Assist in the creation of the company?s marketing literature and advertisements.

?        Complete requested administrative reports on a timely basis.

?        Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Education: PhD strongly preferred. Advanced degree in Chemistry required

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years proven experience selling services, developing pipeline of opportunities, and closing sales. Experience working with large pharmaceutical companies and biotech startups throughout target identification, lead optimization, and candidate selection cycle.

Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry including quality control testing, development and manufacturing of drug products, FDA regulations, and proposal / contract generation.
