The primary responsibility of the Director of Business Acquisition is to provide direction for the day-to-day operations and administration of the region. Formulate and implement plans and policies to achieve overall corporate objectives, while insuring the profitability of the region. Perform all essential functions and responsibilities in accordance with the company's values and beliefs and in alignment with Roy Anderson Corp's policies. Responsible for following all local, county, state and federal laws and company policies related to the position.

The Director of Business Acquisition reports to the President/CEO


  • Secures profitable work.
  • Ensures company policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently. Develops and continually improves the effectiveness of departmental procedures.
  • Develops, directs, and monitors short-term and long-range plans consistent with overall profit and growth objectives of the company.
  • Monitors customer satisfaction.
  • Provides guidance and direction to subordinate managers in identifying potential clients and desired scope of projects. Maintains an effective business development program, securing profitable work in alignment with business plans.
  • Responsible for leading contract negotiations, ensuring low risk and profitability for the region and company.
  • Communicates effectively with the President/CEO and staff.
  • Manages the Marketing Department: Proposal’s, website and presentation efforts.
  • Develops specific objectives and strategies to maintain an overall effective business development program, in compliance with overall corporate strategy.
  • Develops and maintains a strong industry network; participates actively in industry and civic organizations to promote corporate citizenship.
  • Performs additional assignments as required by the operating needs of the region or as directed by the President/CEO.
  • Identifies new methodologies, technologies and trends in the construction industry to keep the company competitive in the marketplace; monitors competitors.
  • Plans, staffs and supervises all assigned departments activities through appropriate delegation to department personnel.
  • Oversees the buyout activities related to the estimating department.
  • Works with the VP of Human Resources on all personnel-related actions.
  • Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, values and goals to department staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with wide cross section of individuals.
  • Provides advice and direction to department personnel toward their professional development.
  • Possesses excellent organization, leadership and analytical skills.
  • Possesses demonstrated ability to think ahead and plan over a 3 to 5 year period.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the President/CEO.


Education and experience requirements include: four (4) yeardegree (advanced degreepreferred), plus extensive experience in the management of construction operating units. Advanced knowledge of the construction industry and company operations required. Extensive knowledge of financial operations, business development, estimating and employee relations required. Excellent organizational, leadership, communications and analytical skills a necessity.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. On occasion it may be necessary to lift and carry or manipulate items of 10 to 15 lbs., walk over uneven or unpaved ground to reach a worksite in construction zones. This position may be required to perform a variety of construction tasks in all areas and aspects of the construction project – including scaffold or platform work, confined spaces and exposure to outside elements. If your position requires you to enter the field it is mandatory that you wear approved Personal Protective Equipment. This position will require occasional company paid travel as necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, use hands, operate a computer, and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer and business equipment.
