JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

As a Director within our Communications and Change Management practice, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to support the implementation of large-scale change, as well as educating clients and their employees on business issues relating to a broad range of HR programs including compensation, benefits, talent and other HR-related communication issues. There is a new business development and sales component to this role and you will be expected to sell work so that you and the team will be utilized. You will be involved in leading the development of communication and change management strategies, and the execution of related deliverables. 
To be effective in this role, you will need strong business acumen along with confidence to interact with senior executives and lead groups. Comfort navigating ambiguity and uncertainty, organized thinking and communication skills, and a willingness to engage in both strategic design and tactical implementation are also critical to success in this position. 


Role Objectives

  • Sell, develop and implement custom communication and change management strategies and programs for a broad range of HR programs, largely focused on talent and rewards elements
  • Sell and deliver advice, solutions and software that meet the clients’ business needs
  • Ensure that project managers are maintaining team progress against established budget, timeline and quality standards 
  • Oversee communication projects in various media, including print and digital, and on a broad array of HR topics including Employee Value Proposition, Agile Consulting, organizational change, rewards and talent management as well as traditional employee-related HR communication including open enrollment, 401(k) education/investment planning, retirement planning, culture and/or leadership change
  • Establish an advisor role with clients and provide consistent, superior relationship management
  • Lead multiple medium projects alone or manage large, complex projects under direction of senior leaders
  • Work with creative resources to translate complex concepts into compelling and engaging communications
  • Deliver superior, consistent oversight for assigned communication and change management projects/clients (NOTE: projects may vary in terms of media, including print (brochures/pamphlets) and digital (intranet and self-service)
  • Develop statements of work, project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams
  • Demonstrate extensive ability by effectively mentoring other consultants
  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams 
  • Meet annual revenue goals of $1.5 to $2 million
  • Actively participate in and lead new business opportunities with clients and prospects, including cross-selling to existing clients 
  • Draft project proposals, finalist presentations, statements of work, project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams
  • Build relationships with internal and external sources to maximize the penetration of key target accounts
  • Deliver profitable revenue to the business through individual billable hours goals

 

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years HR communication experience. Consulting experience is preferred and ideally from an organization that specializes in HR communications and change management strategy development; experience working for traditional HR consulting firms, benefit brokerage firms or Big 4 firms a plus.
  • Superior ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of an organization
  • Experience writing and editing employee communications; compensation and benefits materials is strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage concurrent communication projects that are multidimensional and encompass multiple businesses (Talent, Health and Benefits, Retirement, Rewards, etc.)
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating creativity as well as technical expertise 
  • Strong client relationship, selling, interpersonal and team skills
  • Experience facilitating, coaching and mentoring teams specifically to drive consensus, brainstorm and/or to gather data for a project(s)
  • Solid web communications skills (developing content and functionality requirements for a self-service environment)
  • Experience working with graphic designers to craft the “look and feel” of the communication platform
  • A strong professional presence with polished and well developed oral communication skills
  • General business acumen, with an understanding of how companies are organized, how they operate (business processes), and business drivers
  • Availability to travel on an as needed basis
  • A BS/BA degree in liberal arts is required; an advanced degree in Communication, English or journalism is preferred
