The Department Director directs the operations, budget programs, services and personnel for an
assigned area of responsibility. In this role, the Director provides leadership for up to 24-hour accountability depending
on scope of service. The Director assures adherence within department at all times for policies, regulatory and
accreditation standards. The department Director is a role model for caring, compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy
with all interactions.
Functions as primary administrative contact for leadership on biomedical technology issues and department operations.
Directs activities of the Clinical Engineering Department in the delivery and support of biomedical devices and services.
Ensures all department policies and guidelines, and recommended practices. Develops annual goals and objectives
according to CBH Strategic plan. Supports and encourages team growth in the Clinical Engineer field for current and
future needs. Develops, maintains, and is accountable for annual operating and capital budget.
Bachelors Degree Required. Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical or Biomedical Engineering, AAMI CBET certification required.
Minimum of 3 years management experience in an acute care setting.
Minimum of 10 years experience in the medical device field with at least 7 years in a clinical hospital setting.
Experiences in medical and technical equipment operations and maintenance management. Must have advanced knowledge of electronic training and familiarity with regulatory and electrical safety requirements.
Strong interpersonal skills. Must be comfortable interacting with physicians, hospital personnel and administration.
Strong leadership skills including the direct management of multiple departments. Wide depth and breadth knowledge of medical devices and their clinical function.
Knowledge and understanding of computer software packages and CMMS programs.
Ability to solve complex problems under high stress environments.
Able to plan, organize and implement policies and procedures.
In-depth knowledge of the Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulation emphasis on change management and work to achieve the goals of BHS/BHLex.
