JOB DESCRIPTION: Directs and manages the day-to-day operations in the Anesthesia Department. Develops departmental short and long term goals and objectives and policies and procedures. Meets with other staff members to discuss progress and to develop future courses of action. Analyzes departmental strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and constraints. Develops and administers departmental policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal and organizational guidelines and in compliance with JCAHO, AORN, AAMI and AHCSP for anesthesia services. Provides quality assessment program with quality indicators and review mechanism. Supports on-going quality improvement projects and participates in organizational quality assurance programs and continuing education. Manages staff and employee performance. Resolves Human resource-related issues, determines staffing needs, interviews and hires staff. Provides on-going performance feedback, addresses problems, orients and trains employees, verifies competency and identifies and suggests ways to develop skills. Determines disciplinary, termination and salary actions. Monitors workflow. Directs the purchasing of an appropriate stock of anesthesia supplies and equipment in compliance with organizational purchasing policies. Participates in the evaluation of new products prior to purchase. Prepares, develops, and monitors department budget to ensure compliance with fiscal constraints. Evaluates variances and takes appropriate action. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary health care professionals to identify means of improving patent services. Actively participates on or chairs ongoing or ad hoc committees, projects, or task forces to identify and resolve issues pertaining to Anesthesia Services. Holds regularly scheduled staff meetings to facilitate the flow of accurate, timely information and to resolve issues which are impacting operations. Meets regularly with organizational administrators to share and receive information. Serves as a resource to medical staff, other allied health professionals and community members concerning anesthesia services. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in health care administration or a related field. Five years of progressive experience in health care administration and management.
