CAES Inc. is seeking a Director, Accounting & Controls to support businesses, who employ ~3,500 people, with established customers and partner relationships in defense, space and commercial markets, and annual revenues of ~$800 million. This position reports to the CAES Vice President, Finance & Controller and will be located in Lansdale, PA.
The Director, Accounting & Controls is responsible for leading the accounting & controls for Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions Inc. The Director, Accounting & Controls is responsible for overseeing the general accounting and financialreporting function which includes implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financialreporting is prepared in compliance with US GAAP / IAS. Furthermore, this role will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s Financial Shared Services, initially for one business area solution, in alignment with the ERP system roll out. The individual provides overall leadership (policies, procedures, systems/tools, etc.) for the Accounting & Controls Center of Excellence. He/she will acts as a critical partner (and provides active support) to the finance and accounting team(s), including Sector, Business Area Solution (BAS) areas and the Information Technology Hub. Proactively develops a team accounting, controls and cash management professionals.
Responsibilities: The Director, Accounting & Controls will participate as a senior member of the Vice President, Finance & Controller leadership team, partnering with Financial Systems, USG Compliance and Financial Planning & Analysis leaders.
Oversees the general accounting function, which includes general / inter-company accounting, cash management, payroll, inventory management, fixed asset management
Establish / refine financial policies, practices and procedures for the company
Establish Shared Services function for accounting and cash management (payroll, payables and receivables)
Provide technical accounting guidance to the company’s financial teams. Ensure that all accounting teams are aware of recent updates and changes in GAAP and IFRS
Coordinate half year and year end external audit, including preparation of year-end audit work papers
Ensures financial records and reports are prepared in compliance with company policies and in accordance with GAAP and IFRS, and understanding where differences exist
Directs completion of Federal and State taxreporting requirements (including property, sales and use, payroll and other local taxes), insurance reports and other reports required by government regulation
Leverages financial expertise and robust business acumen to provide comprehensive decision support to the CAES Inc. leadership team. Actively contributes to the creation of strategic and tactical plans.
Fully engaged in development of Oracle suite of business intelligence systems / tools, and drives the organization to embrace new technologies as they become relevant
Provides leadership within the Vice President, Finance & Controller through both influence and credibility. Provides honest feedback to team members and is comfortable receiving it in return
Actively engages as part of the Finance & Controller leadership team and constantly challenges the status quo (processes, technology, models, etc.)
Retain qualified team members and develop, through direct and indirect mentoring / feedback / training
Provides indirect and direct support to the affiliate Plc Group as required. Provides comprehensive intelligence and reporting for the quarterly Audit Committee meetings
Optimizes the data and systems that provide the foundation for all relevant activities.
Supports the VP, Finance & Controller and VP, Operations Finance, organizations by providing business perspective for accounting activities
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance; CPArequired
15 years overall experience with minimum 5 years' experience in lead financial role with a US public company with US GAAP / IFRS compliance requirements
Expert knowledge of approved accounting practices (AR, AP, GL, Invoicing, Inventory) including financial statement information and preparation of financialreports; project accounting; familiarity with financial metrics/KPIs
Ability to learn and understand business requirements, issues and processes
Shared Service Accounting system implementation experience
Strong communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with leaders and UK parent technical team
Demonstrated ability to define, recruit, manage, engage and develop a high performing team
Experience with U.S. DoD contracts
Experience in manufacturing or technology-based environment
MBA or advanced degree
Aerospace & Defense experience
Active DoD clearance
Technical knowledge – ability to provide consistent, reliable guidance on complex accounting matters related to both US GAAP and IAS / IFRS
Budgeting - Develops a plan for estimating the cost of operating during a certain time period and determines expected revenues and expenses. Monitors actual vs. budget in order to control costs and provides information in support management decisions.
Program & Project Finance – monitor the revenue recognition practices for businesses that fall under ASC 606 / IFRS 15
