 MID-CO COMMODITIES, headquartered in Bloomington, Ill., offers professional price-risk management services for all agricultural commodities. MID-CO employees are experienced commodity risk consultants providing constant analysis of both technical and fundamental dynamics of the futures market. MID-CO has 30 branch offices in Illinois and Iowa. MID-CO COMMODITIES is part of the GROWMARK System, a regional agriculture cooperative serving more than 250,000 customers across North America.

 

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Responsible for directing operations of MID-CO COMMODITIES, INC. which includes developing and establishing marketing and price risk management programs for GROWMARK member cooperatives and customers.

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHP

 

Supervises, develops, and provides leadership to the staff of MID-CO, LLC.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Oversees the development and implementation of the MID-CO strategic plan, including annual updates. Presents strategic plans to the appropriate Boards of Directors and other groups as requested.
 

Prepares the annual budget plan and coordinates monthly financial statements with the MID-CO COMMODITIES, INC. Board of Directors.
 

Responsible for directing and supervising the operations and activities of MID-CO COMMODITIES, INC.
 

Ensures that marketing programs are developed and implemented. 
 

Responsible for MID-CO operating results.
 

Negotiates commission rates for clearing and with customers.
 

Ensures that programs are handled in conformance with rules and regulations of exchanges and regulatory agencies.
 

Coordinates MID-CO sales & marketing activities with appropriate Grain Division staff members.
 

Informs the Executive Director of Grain and Sr. Vice President of Member Services of current market conditions, trends, any high-risk positions taken by customers.
 

Responsible for the Summer Grain Conference and Winter Outlook.
 

Responsible for branch office operations and relationships.
 

Responsible to maintain an open and transparent relationship with AgriVisor L.L.C. including business and management collaboration.
 

Jointly drive growth and results for MID-CO and AgriVisor L.L.C.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Responsible for the relationship with other GROWMARK divisions.

Develops relationships with various trade associations.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires a college degree in agriculture economics marketing-related area, or the equivalent thereof, and 9 years or more of experience in agricultural marketing to demonstrate the knowledge of and the ability to provide grain marketing and commodity trading leadership to the GROWMARK System.

 

Must be registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as an Associated Person or become qualified within four months of assuming position. 
 

Prefer knowledge of cooperative philosophies and principles.
 

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

 

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

 

Understanding and experience with agricultural marketing-related areas including marketing strategy, grain risk management; market information, conditions and trends; price strategy, branding, promotions, industry relations, policies and procedures, and compliance along with strategic planning, budgeting, and communications.

 

Ability to build professional relationships and partnerships, assess business opportunities, and negotiate appropriate agreements.

 

Proven supervisory and leadership skills including staffing, orientation, coaching, performance evaluations, training, and development, etc. and the ability to achieve results through others.

 

Proven computer skills and the ability to use the computer to enhance business processes.

Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight when necessary.
