Directs and oversees all policies and procedures related to healthcare information management. Responsible for ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the medical records and transcription departments. Reviewsprocesses and identifies areas for improvement taking into account user needs. May act as liaison between information services and technology department, ensuring that systems are accessible and in accordance with the needs of the organization.

Ensures that all record keeping and information disbursement complies with HIPAA regulations. Relies on extensiveexperience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A widedegree of creativity and latitude isrequired. Typicallyreports to top management.

Job Requirements

Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.Education:This specialist must have an Associate's Degree and/or AHIMA (RHIT) certification at a minimum.A Bachelor's degree and/or AHIMA (RHIA) certification is preferred. Experience:5 years experience, 3 years in management position, in the Health Information Management field. Licenses/Certificates:AHIMA certification (RHIT or RHIA).
