Position Description:   Barrick is looking for a Digital Site Leader to join the Turquoise Ridge team.  Reporting to the Operations Excellence Manager, the Digital Site Leader will be responsible for building and leading a best-in-class team delivering the full spectrum of IT activities for Turquoise Ridge.   Responsibilities:  Reporting to the Operational Excellence Superintendent, theDigital Site Leaderisresponsible for the following: 

  • Build, lead and develop a high performing team of IT professionals, including hiring, training new and existing staff, establishing priorities, setting clear goals and conducting performance reviews.
  • Execute the mine sites’ IT service delivery and achieve desired business results, primarily through appropriate allocation of IT resources and capabilities.
  • Monitor contribute to and ensure compliance with Barrick IT standards established by the Barrick Enterprise Digital function.
  • Establish a best-in-class team providing service across networksupport, IT engineering, operational technology support, desktop support, mobile technology, and mining applications.
  • Partner with Turquoise Ridge leaders and service line managers to understand and anticipate site demand for local IT services.
  • Collaborate closely with the Barrick Enterprise Digital function to understand and implement Digital programs that drive standardization across Barrick to deliver Barrick’s Digital Strategy while ensuring business unit needs are met.
  • Effectively support decentralized IT delivery model balanced with compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Monitor and manage compliance with HR, legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Build and reinforce a positive work environment so that the business operates in support of Barrick’s Values.
  • Represent all aspects of IT across the mine sites including IT performance of the site alignment to Barrick’s IT and Digital strategy.
  • Responsible for mine cyber system security compliance and disaster recovery as per Barrick Enterprise Digital standards.
  • Align IT business processes to site and enterprise Barrick business processes.
  • Provide timely and accurate information/response to business regarding function and performance of all enterprise IT systems.
  • Develop reporting and visual management systems to consistently measure and monitor key performance indicators that go beyond traditional IT metrics.  Create metrics that will be meaningful and informative to the end user community. 
  • Achieve or exceed the IT budgetary objectives in support of customer financial goals while maintaining appropriate levels of service delivery. Responsible for IT budget to include Bill of IT, budgeting cycles and cost reductions.
  • Establish and drive mine site’s IT project portfolio and roadmap and manage its alignment to Turquoise Ridge’s organizational priorities and objectives.
  • Deliver projects on time, on scope, and on budget through project prioritization and effective resource management.
  • Support and collaborate with business, IT and the Barrick Enterprise Digital function to coordinate automated testing, deployment, adoption of new, upgraded or existing IT services.
  • Establish and maintain the appropriate levels of operational support against established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and other metrics.
  • Identify talent requirements, gaps, and requisite actions in conjunction with the General Manager and HR.
  • Recruit and develop key IT talent according to HR policies and procedures and responsible for hiring, development, growth and succession planning for site(s) IT people.
  • Interact with customer base to function as the voice of the business unit to the broader IT and Digital organization to ensure the type and level of services provided fully support the achievement of business unit business objectives.
  • Utilize strong communication skills to interact with and educate leadership, customers, and other stakeholders in the development and implementation of required programs and processes.
  • Use a structured approach to incident management including analysis, quick resolution, root cause analysis and continuous improvement to reduce the frequency and resolution time associated with IT issues that disrupt the business
  • Ensure governance processes is in alignment with the Barrick Enterprise Digital function and Turquoise Ridge requirements.


  • University degree preferably in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or information systems
  • Graduate degree in business administration preferred
  • International work experiencepreferred
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years in Senior IT roles in a support environment.
  • Extensive experience of building and leading teams across multiple sites
  • Demonstrable experience of leading a diverse team through change management programs
  • Extensive hands-on multi-site organizational change management experience
  • Good team player and comfortable dealing with all levels of management
  • Proven ability to implement a vision
  • Proven ability to manage multiple senior stakeholders
  • Business acumen in Mining / Oil & Gas / Heavy Manufacturing a plus
  • Prioritizes work and uses time efficiently
  • Delegates/assigns work activities and provides effective direction
  • Ability to meet deadlines
