The Digital Media Strategist and Field Producer is part of the NYU School of Law's communications team, developing, producing, improving, and/or maintaining video projects, multimedia content within the Office of Communications to advance the institutional messaging and branding of the Law School.Working with the Director of Digital Strategy, they will perform a critical role in creating and executing NYU School of Law's digital media strategy as well as planning for the future. The incumbent will have excellent managerial skills and organizational acumen, advanced interviewing technique, creative storytelling abilities, the ability to distill complex ideas, strong video and print editing, and technical web-based skills. This position will produce videos and other types of multimedia content for the NYU Law website and other channels, the Office of the Dean, Development, Alumni Relations, JD and Graduate Admissions, Centers, and other clients within the NYU Law community. As a solo producer as well as in a dotted-line supervisory capacity and collaboration with NYU Law's Media Services team, this position will ensure consistency in product and service for internal clients and brand integrity for the Law School. In addition to serving as primary editorial consultant for bespoke video projects within the Law School, this position will help to lead efforts to develop best practices for the use of NYU Law's in-house resources and establish workflows to streamline the collaborative process. This position will work to optimize online customer experience and will implement solutions that enhance NYU School of Law's messaging and brand through a variety of digital channels, providing a user-centric approach to the design of the overall online experience. This role requires strategic thinking, innovative ideas, analytical skills, decision-making and problem-solving expertise, sophisticated communication and team-building skills, design talent, a fundamental understanding of web andmobile technologies, and a comfort with technical concepts. Superior leadership and managerial skills are required, including maturity, humility, collaborative spirit, greater-good focus, the ability to be a team player and a positive work ethic. Responsibilities include hiring, training, and overseeing the work of a multimedia production associate, as needed, as well as providing training and guidance for student workers. This position will manage a budget dedicated to video production and identify, negotiate with, and contract outside crews and editors for NYU Law projects on an as-needed basis.
Four-year university degree in a related field of study.
Degree in journalism or related field.
A minimum of five years of professional digital media experience within a marketing communications team or in a newsroom.
Proven track record of producing high-quality video interviews, audio and multimedia projects for online distribution. An of-the-moment knowledge of the latest story-telling tools. Knowledge of pre-and post-production processes as well as field production. Directexperience training colleagues in digital and video best practices and creating workflows related to online video publication. Project management. Supporting and educating clients.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency in video, audio, digital photography processes and editing software. (including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Adobe Photoshop). Candidates must be willing to learn new software and online tools as needed and be comfortable working in Drupal. Knowledge of HTML and CSS a plus. Familiarity with publication processes for online video streaming platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo as well as understanding of best practices regarding how to manage and distribute contentvia such platforms is a must. Experience in measuring and reporting audience analytics and ability to understand and explain how these analytics can be applied to marketing and public relations strategies. Excellent communication, writing, and project management skills.
