Empower is looking for a candidate with retail and agency experience to take a leading role on at least one of our top clients. The ideal candidate will have an 8+ year background in digital media that includes strategy development, planning, buying, technical implementation, and campaign stewardship with direct media partnerships and programmatic buying. The Digital Media Director must have experience in National and Local, buying across channels that include Display, Audio, Video, Mobile, Native, and Social. This role also requires deep experience in creating large, custom, integrated programs with publishers, a solid reputation in the industry and detailed knowledge on all Google products.

The Digital Media Director is a proven leader, capable of creating and articulating a vision and rallying internal and external partners around it. The ideal candidate will have a perspective on where the industry is going, informed by years of experience within it. This role needs to lead by example and always do the right thing when interacting with employees, clients, and media partners. This role will report to the Integrated Media Practice Leader.


Client Development

  • Plays highly billable role on key piece of retail business
  • Maintains regular contact with key client leaders
  • Serves as the ?digital quarterback? across digital efforts within Empower and across multiple client internal teams and external agency partners
  • Travel up to 10%

Team Development

  • Coaches, mentors, builds, and improves a team of Digital Media subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Includes a leadership role in the hiring process, employee evaluations/reviews, and training
  • Must actively provide direct feedback (positive and negative) to team members to improve the quality of work they provide their clients and client teams
  • Works with Practice Leader to determine staffing assignments

Business Development

  • Regularly consults with internal client teams to improve their knowledge and confidence in the Digital Media space
  • Is active in new business efforts for the agency, both in supporting and lead presentation roles related to new business outreach, response to RFPs, and presentations
  • Actively participates in Empower?s platforms, including creating case studies and authoring POVs and thought leadership pieces for the website

  • 8+ years digital media strategy/planning/buying experience
  • Current or past familiarity with planning tools (Nielsen, comScore)
  • Current or past familiarity with ad servers (DCM, Sizmek, FlashTalking)
  • Current or past familiarity with media accounting systems (MediaOcean, Prisma)
  • Current or past experience in creating, passing, and overseeing successful implementation of tracking pixels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
