Position Summary

The Digital Marketing & Communications Director (DMC Director) is located in the Jones Graduate School at Rice University. In this role, the DMC Director develops and implements school-level digital strategy for the Jones Graduate School of Business and partners withinternal and external stakeholders. The incumbent leads in the development of online communication initiatives contributing to the achievement of the school’s strategic goals, with primary emphasis on student recruitment, faculty research, Jones School and business community events, and alumni engagement. Additionally, the DMC Director preserves the Jones School brand standards for web content and design.

Education Preferred

MBA or master’s degree in digital marketing or communication

Experience Required 5 years

Skills Required

- Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, digital advertising platforms, Google and LinkedIn Analytics
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- Demonstrated problem solver
- Ability to leverage current and future trends to help an organization succeed at the school level, for a specific group, team or unit
- Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules
- Experience leading highly-functioning teams

Description of Job Duty

- Leads digital community-building through paid digital media, social mediachannels, blogs and/or the web
- Collaborates with the dean and senior leadership team on development and implementation of digital community strategy for a group, unit, project, program, initiative, channel, organization or unit; including how to engage customers and fundamentally impact their relationship with constituents
- Responsible for ownership and management of digital channels and/or the web
- Oversees editorial strategy and voice
- Partners with internal stakeholders such as program teams, service teams, IT, campus partners to achieve program goals and ensures coordination
- Manages constituent complaints and issues affecting the Jones School reputation as well as other high priorities on digital channels
- Manages implementation of branding, marketing, and communication initiatives promoting the mission, educational programs, and activities of the school
- Manages and executes integrated marketing campaigns involving a diverse mix of media channels driving brand awareness and leads
- Conducts data-driven, strategic planning to maximize efficiency of media
- Monitors and reports on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and expenditures
- Supervises a team (typically, outside contractors) of media specialists in optimization, reporting, and insights, as needed
- May coach and act as lead for teams
