SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the duties of the Digital Director will include:

  • Developing and implementing a digital/social/content strategy that supports the NAACP’s mission and is innovative, engaging, and effective at moving target audiences
  • Overseeing and contributing to the management and production of a variety of content for digital and social media platforms.
  • Developing ideas for creative content (articles, infographics, videos, etc.) that can communicate complex policy issues to a general audience
  • Researching and writing articles for the NAACP and partner websites
  • Evaluating digital media strategy and tactics, regularly, to ensure they align with the Association’s strategy and policy objectives
  • Building digital advertising plans to promote content via search, social media, and other media
  • Working with field team to expand NAACP digital organizing and volunteer recruitment
  • Creating and maintaining an editorial calendar
  • Managing timelines, budgets, and resources in a timely and efficient manner
  • Using social listening and analytic tools to generate insights
  • Help creating and overseeing social media guidelines for the Association to encourage responsible engagement where appropriate
  • Ensuring all digital communications are integrated and complimentary as they are pushed through the various digital properties of the NAACP
  • Developing all digital engagement so that they enhance and improve civic engagement programs, civic engagement campaigns, and civic engagement staff work.
  • Developing ways to connect membership asks and recruitment in all of the digital properties and digital engagements

  • Overseeing and contributing to the management and production of a variety of content for digital and social media platforms.
  • Developing ideas for creative content (articles, infographics, videos, etc.) that can communicate complex policy issues to a general audience
  • Researching and writing articles for the NAACP and partner websites
  • Evaluating digital media strategy and tactics, regularly, to ensure they align with the Association’s strategy and policy objectives

QUALIFICATIONS:


The ideal candidate for this position will possess many, if not all, of the following professional qualifications, competencies, and personal qualities:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or institution in liberal arts, communications, marketing, advertising, public relations, or related field (or equivalent experience) required
  • 7+ years of experience managing digital content and social media platforms for campaigns, brands, or businesses
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Proven success developing and implementing tactical plans that build and nurture online stakeholders
  • Experience establishing metrics, developing insights, and recommending strategies that achieve specific goals
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as project management and organizational skills
  • Passion for and experience with managing social media presences and an interest in the latest trends
  • Creative thinker with ability to translate ideas into written and visual storytelling
  • Demonstrated ability to develop messaging that best represents the Association’s voice and tone online
  • High attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills
  • Analytical skills that include comfort working with, interpreting, and presenting data, as well as the ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in both written and verbal formats
  • Experience using WordPress, Drupal, HTML, and other basic content management systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics, other social media insights, and analytic tools to assist in the establishment the NAACP multi-media Analytics team
  • Basic video and photo editing skills, such as Final Cut, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Photoshop to assist in building the NAACP multi-media Engagement team
  • Ability to work as both a team leader and a team contributor
