The Digital Design Director has the vision and expertise to translate Dimensional’s content into engaging digital experiences and drive organizational alignment on digital product design within a growing organization. He/she leads a team of interactive designers to conceive, define, and execute user experiences across Dimensional’s digital products, particularly global public websites, secure client portals, interactive data tools, email marketing, and mobile applications. The Digital Design Director evangelizes design thinking and advanced methodologies for building and supporting a global, digital ecosystem and acts as part contributor/part guide and mentor to a team of interactive designers and business partners across the firm.
The right candidate is a forward-thinking designer with a deep understanding of human-centered design who can effectively lead a team through all steps of the creative process, including discovery, research, usability, prototyping, artifacts creation, and delivery.
The Digital Design Director works closely with the Creative team within Marketing and partners with investment data and research analysts, website engineers, sales teams, and senior leadership to produce elegant solutions to complex design and UX problems. The right candidate has a passion for user-centered design and digital technology and has a firm grasp of its practical application to deliver best-in-class experiences that meet business goals. He/she thrives in a smart, academic culture where ideas are actively debated, and egos are left at the door.
Lead a team of interactive designers in the conceptualization and execution of user-centered design solutions across a variety of digital experiences for a diverse, global client base. Partner with the Corporate Communications, Channel Marketing, and Ops teams within Marketing as well as with business stakeholders to develop and support Dimensional’s global interactive strategy and properties, including global public and client sites, microsites, data analytics tools, mobile and desktop applications, campaign marketing, and environmental exhibits. Partner with Creative Director and Design Director to master and evolve the firm’s brand and extend our visual language across all our digital content and tools experiences, working within a component-based design framework. Lead UI/UX design as part of a cross-functional leadership team dedicated to supporting Dimensional’s digital offering that also includes: UI/UX strategy, publishing and governance, analytics, backend platforms, and front-end development. Build a design strategy and vision across digital platforms and anticipate industry trends within our
digital ecosystem. Understand our competitor landscape and have a point of view, backed by the latest research and analytics, on optimal digital and creative solutions. Articulate and embody craftsmanship while setting the bar for digital design throughout the organization. Manage and proactively drive key digital design projects from concept to completion, ensuring all deliverables are met on time and on target with business goals. Set short-term and long-term vision and goals for yourself and your team in the context of the department and firm goals. Manage and motivate a diverse creative team that works together to deliver great client experiences that yield business results. Promote and develop staff and foster an environment of teamwork. Set employee goals, monitor staff performance, and conduct performance reviews.
Expertise in a broad range of visual and user experience design solutions and their business application, including responsive design requirements, mobile application design, component reusability and portability, social sharing strategies, accessibility, SEO, and multi-channel marketing. Expertise in creating data visualizations and dynamic content like interactive charts, infographics, and immersive storytelling that fuses narrative with video, motion graphics, and data visualizations. Must have formal training/experience in branding and design principles, human-centered design, design thinking, and Agile/Scrum development process. Expert understanding of web standards, responsive frameworks, typography, grids, visual layout, data visualization, and design systems. Ability to synthesize information and proactively solve creative problems, enhance the brand, and improve operational efficiencies. Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of designers, pushing them to deliver their
best work. Proven ability to align a team and business partners behind a client-focused vision and deliver
measurable results against plans. Fluent in the vernacular of interactive technology and able to successfully collaborate with
product management and technology teams. A passion for quality and craftsmanship reflected in deliverables and perspective. An understanding of tagging and taxonomy content strategies to drive an effective user experience. An understanding of HTML/CSS code and the technology and platforms, such as enterprise content management (CMS) and digital asset management (DAM) systems, that support UX design. Experience with usability testing—interpreting and integrating findings into digital design solutions. An understanding of accessibility standards and prior experience leading efforts to incorporate such standards into design concepts and builds. Exceptional, professional client-service skills. Excellent oral, presentation, and communication skills. Excellent planning, time management, and follow-through skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize high-volume workload of the team based on workflow dependencies, competing business initiatives, and time constraints. Collaborative approach working with teams within Marketing and across departments. Strong proficiency with standard tools of the trade (like Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, InVision, Jira, etc.). Understanding of cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility issues. An online portfolio demonstrating a strong design foundation with relevant examples of design concepts, deliverables, and process. Experience in financial services, either in a corporate or agency role, is preferred; however, experience with other complex, intangible products is highly relevant.
Bachelor’s degree in design, communications, marketing, or equivalent
Relevant Years of Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a creative or marketing environment with a focus on leading design teams (preferably in-house) in the development of interactive projects
