Role Overview

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for the deployment, automation, monitoring, and management of the DST Pharmacy Solutions Java Application Environment. Working closely with Architecture and Development, the DevOps Engineer will design and implement tools and processes that enable a highly managed, automated, and consistent execution environment to improve time to value and reliability while reducing the use of manual processes and procedures.


  • Troubleshoot problems across complex systems
  • Create automation and self-service capabilities
  • Assist with defining own tasks to further the organization’s DevOps goals
  • Perform operational support functions such as coordination of: issue response, triage, and engagement of additional Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to resolve issues
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and build SME level knowledge of supported platforms



  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of work-related experience, or 4 years equivalent work-related experience
  • Programming/Scripting Experience (e.g. Python, Java, Bash/Shell)
  • Knowledge of *nix environments (e.g. Linux, Unix)
  • A strong drive to create improved processes and systems management capabilities
  • Exhibits professionalism in verbal and written communication
  • Strong time management, self-motivated toward work objectives and eager to learn
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Willing to contribute and express ideas through team work while being open minded to other’s input


  • Familiarity of networking principles (e.g. IP networks, troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Awareness of security principles and how they are applied (e.g. Certificates, key management, etc.)
  • Exposure to SQL and relational database systems
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-code methodology and tooling (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Familiarity with Version Control Systems (e.g. Git/GitLab, Subversion, etc.)
