Your Responsibilities

As a DevOps Cloud Engineer you will build and deliver a Cloud hosting platform to enable the deployment of the John Deere Data Lake to the Cloud to support the Enterprise Data & Analytics critical initiative. In addition, you will:


  • Provide expert input to business and IT for existing and future solutions in Deere's Cloud Platform technologies to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of the related John Deere and Cloud environments
  • Be responsible for small to large sized projects and provide coding, automation, task tracking, process execution and metrics for Cloud and other supported technologies
  • Provide technical solutions, expert guidance, and recommendations regarding critical processes and procedures, including best practices for cloud deployments
  • Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with business owners and application owners in support of delivery business solutions
  • Work closely with Delivery Architects and development Agile SCRUM teams to deliver new Cloud Data Lake Architecture to meet emerging application needs
  • Solve critical, complex technical issues in the cloud environment and resolve difficult information systems technical issues whether within the company or with outside suppliers
  • Build and deliver reusable foundational frameworks to implement infrastructure as code in the Cloud and drive adoption of the frameworks to enable the development SCRUM teams
  • Build and deliver the operational and management tools, frameworks and processes for the John Deere Data Lake hosting platform

What Skills You Need


  • 5 or more years of experience with application development 
  • 5 or more years of experience with Unix and/or Linux operating system platforms 
  • 3 or more years of experience with programming and scripting languages (Linux Shell Scripting, Java, Python) 
  • Experience with Agile development processes including: Extreme Programming (XP) practices, Test Driven Development and Test Automation 
  • Experience with Config Management (Ansible/Puppet) 
  • Experience with infrastructure design, infrastructure as code, automation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis 
  • Experience with complex middleware and network infrastructure 
  • Experience with communicating technical decisions and their rationales to our clients and development teams 
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% 


What Makes You Stand Out


Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • 2 or more years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform technologies 
  • 2 or more years of demonstrated experience with developing and deploying cloud applications 
  • Strong Communication Skills 
  • Amazon Web Services Certifications 


Education (or equivalent work experience)

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline and/or equivalent work experience
