You know us as the people who figure out who watches the Super Bowl, but we at Nielsen actually do so much more!  From tracking who buys what at what price, to investigating internet and mobile viewing and reading activity, Nielsen pulls in billions of data records daily for our customers.  Our Digital Engineering (Mobile and Web data collection) is currently on the hunt for a senior DevOps Automation Tool Engineer to help in creating Cloud and Big Data focused systems. The DevOps Automation Tool Engineer will be responsible for working with all of our Digital Engineering teams to develop Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Deployment pipelines for our systems.

 

Responsibilities

  • This role is part of development team to support a culture of DevOps and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Deployment

  • Work with the development teams to develop the foundations for CI/CD for our Digital Engineering systems

  • Help establish organizational best practices around CI/CD

  • Design, develop, and implement automation tooling that enables the Engineering team to deliver best-in-class services to internal and external users

  • Facilitate along with development teams to determine requirements around automation tools, configuration management, and deployment methodologies

  • Analyze current systems and provide insight into how they may be further optimized

  • Identify and correct deficiencies in existing automation tools

  • Bring energy and passion to your work day in and day out

  • Be strategic and tactical

 

Qualifications

What does it take to do this job?

  • Extensive (5+ years) experience in systems administration or development roles developing CI/CD pipelines in high-volume services delivery (web) environments

  • 10+ years in a software development role

  • Prior success in automating a real-world production environment

  • Proven experience as a strong team player

  • Love coding/scripting solutions to increase efficiency of systems

  • Experience with Linux systems administration

  • Extensive experience with configuration management systems such as Ansible, Puppet or equivalent, Hiera, Capistrano

  • Experience with virtualized environments — Amazon AWS, CloudStack, VMWare

  • Extensive experience with continuous integration and build systems — Jenkins, Gitlab-CI, JFrog/Artifactory, Docker Hub

  • Exposure to containerized environments — Docker, Kubernetes, ECS

  • Experience with Atlassian Tool set

  • Ability to write clear documentation and coach on best practices

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Preferred AWS Cloud Skills: Cloud Formation Templates, DevOps tools, AWS Lambda (Python, Java, Node.js), EC2, IAM, Roles, Policies, S3, CloudFront, API Gateway, Networking (VPC, NACL, Subnet), RDS, EMR, ECS

  • P: Big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka or database skills a plus
