Summary: Research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineeringrequired. Ten plus years engineeringexperiencerequired.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications. Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.

Product development engineersupporting performance development of engine aftertreatment systems. Responsible to confirm aftertreatement system technology and configuration. Will provide system sizing analysis through simulation, bench test, and engine test verification. Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills required. Individual will be responsible for communicating results and issues to team members, suppliers and engine system development process partners.

Position's Contributions to Work Group

Critical analysis of catalyst capability and sizing trade-offs. Simulation of catalyst and engine system performance. Communication of project plan status, results, and next steps. Point of contact for external lab tests conducted by 3rd Party test facilities, ex: SwRI.

Typical Day

Shared time between data analysis, simulation, project planning, and lab test execution. Will require presence in Caterpillar's Mossville based Tech Center and expectation for considerable time at 3rd Party test facility. Expectation for 50% of time or more in either location as needed for project execution.

Technical Skills

Simulation ability with Matlab, Experience with data reduction and analysis, Strong understanding of engine and aftertreatment systems.
