Job Description Summary

Working as a bridge between customers and development teams, the Application Engineer will use customer input and sales information to ensure stability of applications and performance requirements are within defined SLA’s. Provide application support to enterprise applications. Provide status updates to business groups and development teams on current performance status of applications. This role works cross functionally with many groups.

Responsibilities:

-Implement complex solutions to all known/documented production incidents

-Define and implement new solutions to address performance issues

-Interface with L1 and L2 support groups, provide assistance and guidance as required

-Fulfill ad-hoc requests from business partners for system/database updates or queries

-Provide off-hours support on a rotational basis

-Verify accuracy and completeness of documented solutions to production incidents

-Analyze application code logic to determine root causes of complex production incidents

-Define and document software requirement changes necessary to fix root causes of production incidents

-Implement moderate to high complexity code changes that resolve root causes of incidents or enhance operational characteristics (resilience, scalability, etc.) to applications

-Install, maintain, and customize vendor built software that is utilized by development and support teams

Required Skills

-Application support experience in an enterprise environment with 5+ years of IT experience

-Linux administration

-Scripting experience Shell, Perl, Python, SQL. Familiar with Java is a plus.

-Apache HTTPD server and Tomcat administration and support

-Jetty and HA Proxy administration and support

-RedHat OpenShift or IBM Cloud Private support

-RedHat JBoss server administration and support

-Docker container administration

-Jenkins Pipeline execution and Pipeline support

-Strong understanding of SSL and certificate management

-Client Mutual Authentication administration

-Knowledge of Kubernetes orchestration cluster (RedHat OpenShift)

-Agile/DevOps principles and tools

-Javascript, Subversion/Git and networking skills are a plus
