THE PERSON 

Our ideal Detailing Manager is an approachable leader with detailing knowledge who is passionate about sharing his/her knowledge to teach and grow a detailing team. Keeping the big picture in mind, this detail-oriented manager knows how to effectively organize and schedule a team while establishing workflow processes and procedures to bring structure and accountability to the department. This creative problem solver is task-oriented and exhibits good time management skills as reflected by his/her ability to create an efficient plan and establish appropriate levels of follow-through. Having excellent verbal and written communication skills and a balanced amount of empathy and assertiveness, this mentor is able to give affirmation, direction, and constructive criticism to the team in a timely and appropriate manner. Confident in his/her knowledge and experience in the field, the ideal candidate is a positive, honest, and trustworthy professional who has a "can-do" attitude and is not afraid to take the lead and cast the vision for the team.

Willing to take responsibility of the department and his/her individual actions, this teachable leader is also a team player who is open-minded, willing to listen to others, and is not afraid to ask questions. While this self-driven quick learner uses common sense and logic in decision-making, he/she is flexible, easy going and fun to work with. RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities and duties of this Detailing Manager include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable 3 Detailers 
  • Create, improve, implement, and monitor processes and procedures
  • Assess, understand, schedule, and manage the workflow of detailing projects
  • Read structural drawings and assign projects based on team's skill set/interest
  • Quality Control: review/check AutoCAD drawings and Detailers' work; be able to recognize and reduce errors and mistakes
  • Assist Detailers and conduct detailing using AutoCAD, as required
  • Work with Operations team to bring scope of work awareness to other departments and communicate project changes in a timely manner
  • Work with the fabrication shop to determine best practices
  • Lead department meetings and attend inter-department meetings
  • Serve as primary liaison between Detailing Department and other departments

This position works regular office hours, 8am to 5pm, at the office in Ogden, UT (applicants should be willing to live within 30-45 minutes from the office). Applicants need to be able to sit for long periods of time and work on a computer.

QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Required

 

  •      2 years of Management experience     5 years of Detailing experience in a construction-related specialty
  •      3 years of AutoCADexperience (creating, changing, plotting drawings)
  •      Experience reading construction drawings
  •      Microsoft Office experience (using Word, Outlook, and Excel – to include creating basic formulas, multi-level

sorts, IF statements, basic math skills)

 

Preferred

 

  •      5 years of Management experience
  •      Structural Detailing experience
  •      Experience creating processes, procedures, and best practices
  •      Experience managing work flow and scheduling
  •      Quality control experience
  •      Advanced Excel experience (writing macros)
  •      Autodesk software experience

Desired

 

  •      Grating experience
  •      Variety of detailing and drafting experience
  •      Prior experience working in a shop environment

Salary range: $80 - $90K
