This design center will provide radio solutions to external customers and also serve as a central radio design hub for each of the divisions within Benchmark
Essential Functions and Competencies
You will work with engineers of all disciplines throughout the full product development life-cycle, supporting schematic capture, PCB outline, component placement and routing, as well as interfacing with both internal teams and external fabricators or vendors to apply state of the art industry standards, tools, and technologies. Working as an integral part of the RF and High-Speed Design team, this person will: Conduct design feasibility studies to evaluate the PCB design goals for fabrication, packaging, cost, manufacturing, and system performance. Assimilate the schematic, parts list, engineering concept, customer requirements and other data as required to plan a design layout: outline, layer setup, component placement, and signal routing. Assist engineering with developing novel structures that can be feasibly fabricated and implement new and advanced CAD tools and develop and expand the parts library. Focus will be on design work requiring creative thinking, in addition to knowledge of basic engineering principles, design practices and manufacturing methods/procedures. You must bring a combination of PCB design, assembly, test and fabrication knowledge, cross team functional interdependence, and demonstrable design process experience to the position.
Qualifications / Education / Experience
Advanced knowledge of complex PCB layouts including RF, analog, high-speed digital, mixed signal, high density BGAs (pitch ≤ 0.2mm), large FPGA designs (> 10k pins) with high density interconnection layers, and multilayer stacked microvias is mandatory. Experience with HDI PCBs using laser microvias, fine lines (1 mil line/space) and high performance thin materials. Expertise with Micro-E package design or 3D integration of bare die and embedded SMTs. Experience with broadband PCB designs that operate in the 1 – 100 GHz frequency range. Experience working in both commercial wireless and aerospace and defense industries. Expertise with Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) layout techniques to mitigate noise and coupling. Converts customer specifications and/or electrical engineering concepts of moderate to high complexity to practical RF, Digital, or Mixed Technology PCB design solutions. Expertise with at least one layout tool: Allegro, Altium, Xpedition, PADS, Zuken, etc. Must be self-motivated and willing to "do what it takes" to get the job done Demonstrate a strong understanding of PCB design and fabrication methods to creatively and efficiently design PCB solutions for customers based on various applications and technologies. Experience with Flex, Rigid Flex, and multi-layer fine-pitch HDI PCB Layouts. DFx design flow experience 4 year Design or Technical degree preferred, with at least 8+ years of drafting experience and 8+ years of using computer aided design tools.
