Design & Release Engineer:

The Design & Release Engineer:

  • Connected Services will work with key stakeholders from internal groups & supplier to produce the development plan of the components within the complete connected services system for the features assigned to them.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of features to Customer Launch phase
  • Collaborate with project management and system architects to review design requirements
  • Collaborate with suppliers to implement development strategy based on requirements
  • Execute integration tests; collaborate with qualification team to generate test case(s)
  • Manage change requests and continuous improvement initiatives involving Connected Services Group, systems, applications, and features
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups and engineering teams to maximize technical documentation
  • Develop and maintain all components and interfaces specified for the feature
  • Manage change process for all system interfaces: CRs, Continuous Improvements, Defect Resolution, etc.
  • Manage and coordinate with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure completeness of interface and component development
  • Manage issue triage; prioritize resolutions working closely with project management and development teams
  • Present weekly status updates to management and project stakeholders
  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor?s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Three (3) years of continuous experience in Electrical Engineering or Connectivity within the automotive domain, including:

  • At least one (1) year of automotive electrical design/development and/or
  • At least one (1) year of telematics connectivity experience
  • Hands-on experience in feature development, testing, and validation
  • Hands-on experience in defect resolution and management
  • Expertise in automotive based electronics: hardware, software, systems, quality, mobile applications, server-based electronics, cloud-based systems, etc
  • Expertise in automotive communication and connectivity: CAN, LIN, WiFi, Bluetooth, J1939, Ethernet, etc
  • Expertise in Vehicle CAN Bus Tools, Logging tools, and project management software
  • Expertise in Feature Specifications? functional requirements, timing requirements, test plan creation, documentation, design, and release functions
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing project and personnel effectively and efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills ? written & verbal ? for interfacing with key project stakeholders and presenting data in a clear, understandable manner to project management and cross-functional figureheads
  • Proven leadership abilities to manage project team, advise engineers, engage in collaboration, avoiding conflict, ensuring supplier quality and compliance, delegating tasks, and completing assigned action items
  • A passion for telematics, smart-phone technologies, connected services, and internet of things (IoT) philosophy and methodology
