As a Design Manager, assigned to our LAWA project at Los Angeles International Airport, you will plan, develop, organize, and supervise the design efforts for the project. During construction you will move to the operations team supporting construction in the field.


  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large engineering projects or a number of smaller projects through the selection of alternate methods, techniques or design concepts as required to resolve unique design problems
  • Coordinate design efforts with personnel in related departments, construction project managers and client personnel to review designs and resolve areas of concern under limited supervision of the engineering manager
  • Maintain records, lists and reports as required to insure compliance with the company (design/build) or client’s schedule, adherence to the budget, adherence to procurement specification, or to insure problems are monitored and resolved
  • Perform special studies or analyses involving review, research, calculation, and selection required to develop requiredreports
  • Maintain familiarity with current industry standards, applicable design codes and company policies.  May be involved with various committees (external and internal) to draft various standards, codes or policies
  • Manage and administer department functions associated with constructiontemporary works engineering including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, etc
  • Research, plan, design, and administer engineering design projects  (or corporate management for design/build), applying knowledge of design, industry regulation, construction procedures, technical specification, zoning and building codes and building materials
  • Function as the prime contact coordinating the resolution of problems, reviewing progress, recommending alternatives and advising on project objectives
  • Develop or evaluate plans/criteria or special analyses required in support of the design effort. Provide consulting expertise within multiple areas of specialization
  • Provide full administrative and technical direction of all design personnel, onsite inspection, training, coordination of constructiontemporary works operations
  • Develop & facilitate training courses for specific construction aspects relating to temporary works design and construction practices and execution
  • Provide supervision and mentorship of engineers and interns,
  • Provide design of permanent structures or systems, on occasion, as they relate to the company’s active area of work
  • Provide construction consultation in methods, materials, practice and/or corporate policy to field supervision personnel
  • Act as company representative at industry association meetings
  • Set productive, consistent, and acceptable work example

  • Perform additional assignments per management’s direction


  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 10 years related experience 
  • Estimating & Cost Control, Construction Design & Engineering, Management and Accounting/Finance experience
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering techniques
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) in multiple states preferred
