Job Description:

The Design Engineer will effectively utilize EDA tools deployed at Harris to create and maintain Printed Circuit Board components and component library, utilizing:

  • Mentor’s Software
  • DxDesigner (Schematic capture)
  • PADS (PCB layout)
  • AutoCAD

Create PCB component footprints and decals according to established Harris and IPC industry guidelines. Interface directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Test Engineering to obtain information about requirements. Work with Component Engineering to accommodate advanced packages and clarify specification discrepancies. Generate support documentation to meet Harris standards. Incorporate change notices utilizing existing CAD tools. Check designs, drawings, and databases for accuracy. Potential for advancement to PCB Designer.

Work Preparation:

  • Review drawings and data sheets for dimensional requirements
  • Create part footprints based on manufacturer’s technical reference and Harris design rules
  • Create schematic decals for importing into schematic tool

Qualifications:

  • Relevant A.S. degree with 8+ years PCB component or design experience
  • Relevant B.S. degree with 4 + years PCB component or design experience

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of SMT and through -hole electronic components and packages
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of working with a PLM tool like Agile
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated to achieve results with broad direction
  • Adaptable to a variety of tasks, responsibilities, and people
