This position is in the Power Electronics Systems & Components team. The incumbent will support design and analysis activities associated with power electronics development projects. You will partner withother members of the design team as well as provide technical guidance to global teams. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of NPI and NTI projects focused on electric drive technologies.
Responsibilities typically include:
-Conceive product design concepts and prepare design layouts (schematics & PCB) for power electronic components and systems. Helps identify and resolve design issues.
-Makes design calculations, design decisions and completes the necessary analysis and computer simulations. Initiate continuous improvement ideas.
-Works closely with validation engineers, technologists, and suppliers regarding product design, test and production scheduledates.
-Research and develop new power conversion technologies
-Communicate analysis and design results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
-Communicate results and making recommendations to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
-Identifying and troubleshooting hardware and software issues
-Validating and implementing product solutions
-Documenting findings in technical reports.
-Maintain technical currency Position involves working in a team environment on challenging, new product programs that include electric drive technology.
Typical Day: Varies, it is a desk job. Time spent collaborating with global team on the phone, meetings, and in the lab as well. Will be eligible for 9/80 work schedule
-Experience using electronic test equipment for troubleshootingelectrical components and systems (oscilloscope, DVM, function generator, etc)
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills along with good oral and written communication skills
-Knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint or similar software office packages
-University coursework in power electronics or relevant work related power electronics experience
-Experience working safely around high voltage equipment & components
-Experience with schematic design and PCB layout
-Experienceworking with simulation tools, including PSIM, Simplorer, Mentor Graphics and Matlab
-Must be a good team player and have the desire to work in collaborative environment including field/shop/lab environments
-Excellent understanding of electrical systems
-Good hands on and troubleshooting skills.
