Based in San Diego, CA, the Deputy General Manager, Maintenance of Equipment (MOE) Engineer is responsible for ensuring maintenance, safety and regulatory compliance of light rail and heavy rail passenger equipment. Manages vehicle maintenance and inventory functions through staff and subordinates. Captures revenue through additional project work as assigned by the General Manager.

In your role you will:

- Be responsible for revenue earnings through achieving NCTD contract objectives. Contribute to team objectives by ensuring required number of DMU and heavy rail vehicles are available to run safely, thereby maximizing revenue potential.
- Develop and monitor effectiveness of preventative maintenance programs on vehicle equipment. Coordinate trouble-shooting and emergency repair efforts of vehicle equipment.
- Participate in budget setting and forecast departmental and capital needs.
- Direct the vehicle department through management of staff and subordinates. Develop staff through mentorship, training and PMP process of goal setting and feedback. Participates in hiring, retention and disciplinary processes. Identify and remove barriers effecting employee performance.
- Responsible for Regulatory Compliance related to the following agencies/areas: NCTD, FRA, FTA, OSHA and other applicable standards. Responsible for safety compliance of employees.
- Finds, prices, bids and completes capital upgrade programs on vehicles to capture additional revenue. Coordinates and assigns work internally or externally for completion.
- Monitors vehicle deficiencies and failures. Works with BT AME for proper credit and resolution of vehicle warranty issues, and completion of agreed modifications of vehicles.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate:

- You will hold a BA/BS or specialized industrial training in railway operations, safety and regulatory compliance.
- Minimum of 8 years of Engineering in transit/rail management.
- MS Office experience required.
- Maximo experience preferred.
