The Deputy Director of Finance Business Transformation (BT) will partner with the Finance leadership team, BT team, domain experts and other stakeholders to ensure that new system implementations fulfill MITRE’s financial business needs while extending capabilities and simplifying processes when possible. The role will report to the Director of Finance BT.
Partner with Finance leadership team, BT team, domain experts, internal auditors, system integrators and software vendors to:
Identify Requirements - Help identify key requirements to understand software vendor differences and inform selection of a new, cloud-based finance platform and supporting systems, such as contract lifecycle management and time and absence reporting.
Improve Business Processes - Understand “as is” processes by business flow (e.g. Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll). Redesign processes to simplify and standardize while adopting best practices. Leverage automation and digitization to automate processes/services currently performed manually. Critically assess requests for customized processes and propose alternatives. Ensure reengineered processes continue to support a strong system of internal controls with appropriate segregation of duties. Assist in documenting new processes.
Assess Organizational Design - Assist in evaluating the risk and value of restructuring select back-office business operations and select organizations.
Implement Systems - Help define and execute test plans and identify historical data to convert. Assist in assessing current and future reporting requirements to ensure functional owners have necessary information to run business operations after going live.
Manage Change – Assist in developing training materials and coaching staff on new tools and processes.
Provide Post-deployment Support - Provide post-implementation assistance to help resolve issues by recommending and implementing corrective actions.
Manage the Overall Program - Serve on the BT Working Steering Committee to ensure integrated solutions.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA required
IT background with prior consulting experience to include system implementations
10+ years of experience to include experience within Finance at MITRE and outside of MITRE
Solid understanding of business flows, financial controls, and user needs for reporting and analysis with proven experience automating and optimizing financial processes
Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate across various teams
Strong program/project management skills
Innovative mind-set with ability to independently clear road blocks and simplify and communicate complex problems to timely solve issues
