Perspecta has an immediate need for a Defense Red Switch Network in Bellevue, NE.

The Red Switch Technician supports the Red Switch (Command and Control Switching Systems – CCSS) operations section and is a master and recognized authority on relevant IT subject matter knowledge, including Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Operations and Maintenance, Digital Small Switch (DSS) networks, network systems, security technologies, theories, or techniques. Provides highly innovative solutions. Routinely exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and criteria for achieving objectives. Responsibilities include troubleshooting DRSN systems when necessary and making improvements to the system. Install, configure, service, repair, and maintain DRSN/DSS infrastructure and systems. Install, configure, service, repair, and maintain hardware and software for DRSN/DSS services, CCSS secure and non-secure digital telephone switches, peripherals, and associated equipment (i.e. Channel Encryption Unit (CEU), Secure Terminal Equipment, etc.). Evaluate and resolve customer information system problems, effect required hardware upgrades and repair to maintain mission capability. Install and configure hubs, routers, switches, and various transmission media, server hardware and software, and ensure the proper installation and configuration of end user hardware and software for efficient operation on the CCSS.

Responsible for delivering Red Switch (CCSS) operation and solutions that address the customer’s problems, needs and opportunities.

Assists in performing product evaluations and recommends products/services for networks. Validates and tests basic Red Switch (CCSS) architecture and design solutions to produce detailed engineering specifications with recommended vendor technologies.

Establish and maintain a professional working relationship at multiple levels both internally and with the customer by understanding the customer’s business context and their unique situation

Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations. Designs, builds, and implements Red Switch (CCSS) systems.

Directs compilation of records and reports concerning Red Switch (CCSS) work operations and maintenance. Troubleshoots network performance issues. Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions.

Provides database management of the switching systems to include database modification, report creation, printing, backup, restore, and purging of files.

Perform database changes and error recovery using the system software and database software routines.

Perform PMIs IAW DRSN O&M Guide, technical manuals and local guidance for all CCSS equipment.

Provide inventory management for CCSS equipment and continuously monitor spares levels against the required stock levels.

Perform COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) duties 24x7 as required in support of the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) COMSEC requirements to ensure availability on all shifts.

Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the Red Switch (CCSS) facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals).

Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting Red Switch (CCSS) performance.

Ensures that all information systems are functional and secure.

Manage, operate, maintain, and administer Red Switch (CCSS) components to meet operational, availability, and mission requirements.

Provide infrastructure support including: pulling, splicing, installing, terminating and troubleshooting copper and fiber.

Provide maintenance of electronic documentation of the cable layouts for all Red Switch (CCSS) infrastructure.

Complete electronic documentation of all work completed for change requests and incidents.

Provide assistance in site surveys in order to provide engineering team correct materials, tools, bill of material estimates, etc. needed to complete projects.

Candidates must be a US Citizen with an active top secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI and with Nuclear Command and Control (NC2)


Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, a minimum of 5 - 8 years relevant industry experience

Knowledge and Skills

Strong technical and hands-on experience working with the DRSN and DSS networks to include engineering, troubleshooting, developing Local Service Requests (LSRs) and Change Requests, circuit diagrams, and line button layout sheets.

Experience working with relevant Red Switch (CCS) systems and networking principles

Ability to interact with employees at all levels

Possess a security certifications (Security+, CISSP, Network+, etc.)

ITIL v3 Foundation certification

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, influencing skills and ability to work effectively with a team

Experience with Red Switch (CCSS) Systems, Network systems and servers, networking systems integration (hardware, software, network, and database).

Knowledgeable of Red Switch (CCSS) operations, network security, system operation and performance, and system effectiveness.

Experience with Red Switch (CCSS) system tools

Strong knowledge of various protocols for data transmission (RS-232, RS-530, T1), and encryption hardware used in the DRSN/DSS networks.

Knowledgeable of DSX equipment panels and associated wiring, fiber optic cabling, connectors and termination techniques, metallic cabling, connectors and termination techniques.

Experience in data, voice and video networks

Experience working with IP networking, networking protocols and understanding of security related technologies.

Completion of the Red Switch/CCSS training school located at Ft Huachuca, AZ or equivalent.
