The Dean of Students position at Anderson University can be broadly described as campus champion in achieving the institution’s strategic pillar of providing an Outstanding Student Experience. With an orientation towards student success and a focus on excellence, intentionality in serving students, holistic development, and cultural competence, the Dean will lead a department of Christ-followers towards fulfillment of the University mission of educating students for a life of faith and service to the church and society. The Department of Student Life is comprised of the following functional areas: Residence Life, Student Activities/Intramurals, Campus Ministries, Student Government, Career & Calling, Orientation, Counseling Services, the Cultural Resource Center which houses Multicultural and International Student Services, Chapel, and Student Leadership.
Responsibilities: The Dean of Students is responsible for departmental leadership, new hires and managing current employees, overseeing departmental budget, collaborating with departmental staff regarding student discipline, student policies and student handbook, being liaison to AU Police and Security and Title IX Coordinator, providing oversight and collaborating with various departments/groups to achieve student success and retention, attending various meetings and meet with groups to be engaged and maintain positive relations in the campus community.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Student Development (or a related field) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Doctoral degree preferred. The top applicants will have excellent communication skills, will be a visionary as well as implementer of “best practices” in Student Development, have ability to inspire and motivate staff to achieve goals, effectively use resources, data analytics, technology and social media to achieve student life and institutional goals. Must meet University life-style expectations.
