We are looking for an experienced Lead SQL Server DBA to join our team! Reporting to our Sr. Director of Engineering Operations, you will be a trusted partner in charge of evaluating, creating, and maintaining database systems, communicating DB designs to developers, processes, and mentoring a team of DBAs.
As a vital member of the Engineering Operations team, you will need solid technical and analytical skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will contribute to a wide variety of data-centric requirements and can be counted on to complete assignments in a timely manner with minimal oversight.

Key Accountabilities:
Coordinate DBA activities and mentor team
Provide thought leadership responding to database outages in critical client-impacting situations
Plan and manage maintenance windows
Lead Database design and help developers in leveraging database schema and structure
Lead multiple infrastructure planning and implementation including; instance strategy, technical platform selection, architecture design, backup, and recovery strategy
Lead\Perform script maintenance on existing monitoring scripts and automate everyday tasks with the team
Lead\Design database backup and recovery plan and strategy based upon business data retention and data recovery specification
Monitor systems and proactively manage and maintain configurations to ensure performance, availability, and stability
Utilize Visio to create new logic paths and data flows for a project
Develop and maintain ETL processes
Development of SQL procedures, triggers, views, functions, and reports to support enhancement to critical SQL-based business systems
Analyze, troubleshoot, and remediate data integrity issues
Reviews & recommendations for solutions that require the definition of databases' physical structure, functional capabilities, data security, data backup, and recovery specifications
Lead\Performs scheduled backup, index defragmentation, and when necessary, restore operations
Identify and transform business requirements into logical data models
Analyze system performance to plan for capacity management and scalability
Provide database assistance and problem support to application developers, business analysts, and business users
Conduct research and prepares recommendations for database tools, software, and/or hardware requirements
Desired Skills and Experience:
Proven track record (7-10 years) working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive project that required the following:
Clear and timely communication of crucial information deemed critical to project success
Managing design risk
Balancing priorities
Going above and beyond the requirement of the role
Articulating technical information to a non-technical audience
Experience in managing a small team of DBAs
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2016 & 2017 (2019 a plus)
Advanced T-SQL skills
Strong Microsoft SQL query optimization and index management
Adept at Transactional Replication, including setup, troubleshooting, and creating replication scripts
Expert performance troubleshooting skills
Strong understanding of Windows Clustering, Always-On, and Partitioning
Able to implement Disaster Recovery methods
3rd Party monitoring tools, including but not limited to SQL Sentry Monitoring and SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA)
Ability to review developer code to assure SQL best practices and to identify areas of inefficient query structures
On-Call Rotation (approximately one week a month)
Understands and uses normalization methods and design methodologies
Understanding of Scrum/Agile methodologies is preferred
Have a deep understanding of back end, server, and API development, including; application and database/data development architectures
Have a deep knowledge of front-end development and architectures
Possess relevant knowledge of data/database technologies outside of traditional RDBMS's systems such as: AWS Console Management, S3 Storage, NoSql (DynamoDb), Search (ElasticSearch), Analytics/Warehousing (Redshift, EMR), and Streaming (Kinesis)
