Job Description:

Mediware is seeking a databasetroubleshooting expert to work with on-premise installations of a broad spectrum of products that serve our customers in the Home Care and Specialty Pharmacy industries. While customers have in-depth support during their implementation process, ongoing changes to their infrastructure, as well as patches and configuration changes, can modify the efficient functioning of the Mediware software in their environment. In order to return them to full function, a Database Support Specialist may be needed in a remote or onsite capacity to diagnose and remedy issues. 


The Database Support Specialist will:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues related to their on-site or hosted Windows Server/SQL Service installation via phone, email, and in person, including associated travel (less than 20%).

  • Consult with customers on proper database functions, like user management, security management, regular backup procedures, performance measures, to make their Mediware software work as best as possible.

  • Document data dictionaries and custom procedures or configurations in a customer’s environment.

  • Train the front-line support team to be able to answer common questions and troubleshoot basic issues affecting the software.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of experience administering and troubleshooting issues with Microsoft SQL Server installations. Experience with flat file databases is a plus.

  • Have 3+ years of experience engaging with customers across the technology spectrum, from IT professional to non-technical administrator.

  • Have 2+ years of experience writing TSQL to accomplish a wide array of tasks. Experience with SSIS is a plus.

  • Have extensive experience and comfort level with all functions of Microsoft Excel, and preferably also with Access.

  • Possess experience with PM, CRM, and bug-tracking software.

  • Be comfortable with an agile development methodology and interactions with developers to fix software problems.

  • Adapt to changing software and customer needs.

  • Be able to manage a wide array of conflicting priorities and technology issues with grace under pressure.

  • Familiarity with pharmacy or medical procurement and billing is highly preferred.
