  • Install, build, configure and maintaining standalone (VM) and clustered (Physical) SQL database infrastructure
  • Recommend hardware configurations for new and existing systems
  • Perform continuous performance tuning and optimization
  • Perform root cause analysis of problems and recommend solutions to minimize future downtime
  • Develop, maintain and enforce operational database security guidelines and procedures.
  • Responsible for database monitoring and capacity planning
  • Perform and document system operations processes and procedures including installation and of system upgrades, failover, and configuration
  • Administer all database objects such as indexes, tables, views, constraints, sequences, snapshots and stored procedures
  • Monitor, manage All aspects of SQL Server databases including AlwaysOn and mirroring
  • Promote system reliability and efficiency by creating and implementing system standards and operational best-practices; provide technical leadership in design and administration decisions for MSSQL databases
  • Apply internal software releases, hotfixes, service packs as well as critical updates for all SQL servers
  • Analyze database performance and make adjustments or recommend changes to optimize performance

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of technical experience with SQL Server, including 2012/2014/2016
  • Experience with SQL Server Clustering and/or SQL Server AlwaysOn
  • Experience administering backup and maintenance of SQL Server databases
  • Experience configuring, modifying and managing SQL Server Jobs
  • Experience troubleshooting errors and performance issues
  • Ability to monitor and diagnose server health and performance using VMware Virtual Center, Microsoft SCOM, Quest Foglight and Performance Investigator for SQL Server and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to make good judgments, decisions, negotiate and problem solve
  • Ability to understand and clearly communicate technical information to non-IT personnel
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding the clients computing environment
  • Must demonstrate strong sense of urgency regarding solving end-user issues
  • Efficiently and effectively solve problems regarding system errors or usage issues
  • Must be able to minimize downtime by rapidly diagnosing and resolving problems
  • Be able to track and document information regarding procedures and troubleshooting techniques
  • Maintain a high level of teamwork and communication
  • Ability to participate in 24 hour on-call rotation
  • Ability to perform after-hours work for scheduled maintenance and unscheduled issue resolution
  • Experience with Powershell desireable
  • MS Azure Experience desirable
  • Experience with Oracle and/or Sybase is a plus
