RCIS is currently seeking a Database Engineer to work out of Zurich's North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, IL in the Crop Technology unit within Information Technology and will report to the Technology Manager. This role may also sit in our RCIS location in Anoka, MN.
The Database Engineer consults with and advises senior management and multiple clients on high impact data or database management issues, while influencing strategic direction, and will lead various large-scale or moderately complex data/database management activities including one or more of the following:
Designing highly complex logical and/or physical databases
Leading highly complex data modeling, mapping, integration, and capacity planning efforts
Developing management policies, procedures and standards
Business requirements identification, analysis and development
Ensure security, audit and disaster recovery compliance for SQL databases
The Database Engineer will also have responsibility in handling technology refresh for database and related server systems, provide mentoring, guidance, and general oversight to other staff members and leading projects.

Bachelors Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the IT area
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the IT area
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the IT area
Experience in database administration
4 or more years of SQL Server development, including strong knowledge of SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS and database modeling tools highly preferred
3 or more years of experience with public cloud database solutions
Experience with BI suite of tools, SharePoint, and Microsoft Dynamic CRM
DBA for on-premise SQL server instances and public cloud IaaS and PaaS implementations
Experience with replication between SQL and non-SQL server databases (DB2)
Performance monitoring, database, and SQL tuning
SQL License management and cost containment strategies
Database disaster recovery processes
Experience with database security and audit best practices
Experience providing support to development teams on infrastructure
Identifiable organizational and task prioritization skills (detail oriented)
Self-motivation and strong communication skills (oral and written) to manage customer relations.
