Join our team, make a difference administering Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, implementing new technologies and empowering the organization to make good use of its data. As a database engineer, you will administer Oracle Exadata Cloud at Customer, Oracle Golden Gate, databases in Azure cloud, as well as on premise database environments. As a member of the DBA team, you will script and support backup and recovery strategies, data security and privacy practices, you will maintain multiple development environments via an object migration model, and take part in capacity planning, disaster recovery, business continuity, and process improvement initiatives. You will also share "on-call" rotation when we need you available 24/7 during your on-call shift.

Role Purpose:

Defines, creates, and maintains Oracle and/or SQL databases. Analyzes, tests, and implements database design supporting various business applications. Ensures that data recovery, maintenance, data integrity, and space requirements for physical databases are met through formulations and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management. Provides coordination between users, technical staff, application owners, and corporate entities to ensure effective data management.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Understand, implement, test, and manage solid database backup and recovery strategies.

2. Implement solid data security practices, and ensure solutions meet business objectives.

3. Provide troubleshooting and performance tuning advice to users of database services.

4. Participate in the 24x7 on call schedule.

5. Develop and execute system-level test plans and patching activities.

6. Consult on database related changes as a subject matter expert.

7. Understand and adhere to enterprise scheduling system.

8. Maintain multiple environments via an object migration model.

9. Install and configure database related software and databases.

10. Monitor database systems for abnormal conditions and respond accordingly.

11. Capacity planning to ensure appropriate hardware/software resources associated with the databases and connecting business applications.

12. Work closely with IT peers and teams regarding requirements for databases to ensure optimal performance.

13. Plan and test disaster recovery strategy.

14. Implement solid data security practices.

15. Lead and suggest process improvements and standards.

16. Stay current on industry trends and database features.

17. Develop rules and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

3-5 years of experience in the design, administration, programming, and support of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases

Demonstrated experience working well with customers of varying levels of technical expertise in high-pressure situations and complex environments

Experience working with end users to develop effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems

Oracle experience with versions 11.2, and 12.2, using RMAN for backup and recovery, Data guard, Oracle Enterprise manager, and database configuration

SQL Server experience with versions 2016 and 2012, and database creation, configuration, security, and backup and recovery
