Database Development Lead at Fidelity Investments in Austin, TX

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Personal Investing Engineering Efficiency and Assurance Center of Excellence (CoE) is looking for a Database Development Lead with experience in database virtualization and the AWS cloud ecosystem to establish standard methodologies and common designs for consistent engineering practices that support both pre-production and production environments that enable our software development associates to deliver secure, resilient applications faster while maintaining high standards of quality. This new position represents our next investment in both thought and design leadership in the cloud hosted world of database engineering.

The Team

As part of the CoE, your job will be to facilitate the personal investing business unit’s modernization and streamlining of its pre-production and production environments and its migration to the cloud. As the database engineer for the CoE, your role will be to help deliver and provide demonstrated thought leadership through code and design that supports data solutions that are commoditized into engineering patterns identified by yourself, the industry, the CoE, our partners and development teams that are built and managed with automation, self-service and observability in mind.

The Expertise You Have

• Advances database development experience required
• Strong experience with the AWS cloud ecosystem (specifically, RDS, Aurora, and DynamoDB)
• B.S. or a B.A. in Computer Science; Masters in Computer Science preferred

Certifications

• AWS Certified Developer & Solutions Architect
• AWS Certified Database Specialty preferred

The Skills You Bring

• Your expertise with relational (Oracle, Amazon RDS and Aurora) database development, management, troubleshooting and monitoring of highly available instances in AWS
• Your expertise with high performance data movement using batch and real time ETL processes
• Your experience with database virtualization using Delphix and database replication technologies (such as GoldenGate)
• Your experience with IBM Optim a plus
• Your experience with NoSQL (Amazon DynamoDB) databases a plus
• Your ability to learn new things, new technology, and tackle problems; your drive to get things done
• Thought leadership demonstrable in code and proofs of concept to show, not tell our associates and partners
• Your experience in at least one “foundational” development language (Java, Node.js, Python)
• Your experience putting together CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins

The Value You Deliver

• Developing automated approaches to providing data on-demand, database configuration, database change management and resiliency with CloudFormation and CI/CD pipelines
• Working in coordination with data source owners and DBA teams to migrate databases to virtualized and/or cloud solutions
• Providing database experience to help build out next-generation non-production environments that closely reflect production while maintaining environment security and reliability
• Creating reusable, concise training products that can be used asynchronously by squads
• Building positive relationships within and across PI and Enterprise Fidelity teams
