Job Description:

Parsons is hiring for a Senior Technical Specialist - Database Administration & Middleware / Business Intelligence is responsible for architecting, implementing, and supporting enterprise-class database, middleware, and business intelligence solutions with a strong emphasis on Oracle technologies.

This role focuses on Oracle Database, Oracle APEX/ORDS, Oracle GoldenGate, and enterprise data integration, ensuring secure, scalable, highly available, and performant data platforms that support mission-critical applications and analytics.

Drawing on expertise in PL/SQL, ETL/ELT, advanced data modeling, and cloud technologies, the successful candidate will lead proposing solution architecture, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and continuous enhancement of enterprise data environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oracle Database Administration & Architecture
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases across development, test, and production environments (e.g., 11g, 12c, 18c, 19c).
  • Design and implement scalable database architectures for OLTP and data warehouse workloads, including replication, clustering, and distributed environments.
  • Implement backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, including regular restore/recovery testing to ensure recoverability and support non-production refreshes.
  • Configure and support HA/DR solutions such as Oracle Data Guard and related technologies, including switchover/failover procedures and validation.
  • Administer Oracle Enterprise Manager and related monitoring tools to proactively manage capacity, performance, and availability.

2. Oracle GoldenGate & Replication
  • Design, configure, and support Oracle GoldenGate for unidirectional and bidirectional replication across multiple environments, enabling high availability and real-time data synchronization.
  • Monitor GoldenGate environments, perform performance tuning, and resolve replication issues to maintain data integrity and consistency.

3. Oracle APEX / ORDS & Middleware
  • Design, develop, and support Oracle APEX applications, including reports, and charts to modernize and improve user experience.
  • Architect, configure and manage Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) and related middleware components, develop PL/SQL and JavaScript logic within APEX.

4. Performance Tuning, Troubleshooting & Enhancements
  • Review, analyze, and optimize PL/SQL and SQL code for large-scale applications (e.g., billing, service management, banking, SAP-based solutions), improving performance and scalability.
  • Conduct detailed performance tuning of queries, indexes, memory, and storage structures, to improve response times and throughput.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on complex incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.

5. Data Modeling, ETL/ELT & Data Warehousing
  • Design and maintain logical and physical data models to support transactional systems, data warehouses, and BI solutions.
  • Develop complex PL/SQL-based ETL/ELT routines for data extraction, loading, transformation, and cleansing.
  • Design and support data warehouse and BI solutions, including dimensional data models and reporting/analytics structures, enabling flexible, self-service analytics.

6. Other
  • Produce technical documentation including solution architectures, implementation plans, operational procedures, and end-user reporting guides.
  • Lead technical evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and tool assessments, providing recommendations based on structured ranking matrices and business requirements.
  • Engage with business stakeholders, business analysts, and QA teams to translate business requirements into robust technical designs and BI solutions.

Experience
  • 8 years of experience in database administration, with substantial focus on Oracle technologies and enterprise-scale environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
  • Oracle Database administration, including upgrades, migrations, and platform changes
  • Oracle GoldenGate and other replication techniques in high-availability scenarios.


This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.

Salary Range: $40.87 - $64.90
