Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes, optimization of storage functionality, and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May work with vendors.

DESIREDQUALIFICATIONS: Prefer BS degree and six years of industry accepted Information Technology (IT) experience.

Must have current experience demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving skills in database administration of information systems applications using commercially available database management products.  i.e. Oracle Database, Microsoft (MS) Structure Query Language (SQL) Server, MS IIs, Apache, Application Server (Oracle or Java, i.e. JBOSS)

Prefer, good organization skills to balance and prioritize work; Analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot system problems; Communication skills; Customer Service and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Develop and implement controls for maintaining Database and Web application software standardization on HP, SUN, Dell, Intel Platform micro systems.

-  Provide Oracle Database, Microsoft (MS) Structure Query Language (SQL) Server, MS IIs, Apache, Application Server (Oracle or Java, i.e. JBOSS) software services including installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, monitoring, deployment and performance turning.

-  Apply necessary security packages to ensure compliance with all security mandates.  Scan to ensure compliance.

-  Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.  Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.

Secret Clearance is required.

Requires IAT Level II (GSEC or Security+ce or SSCP or CCNA-Security).  Per DoD 8570, the cert must have been received within the past three years to be considered current and eligible to work on a Government site.
