General Summary:

The Database Administrator is responsible for certifying that the database software is properly maintained in order to optimize system performance ensure that all company information is accessible in an efficient manner. This position will also work to safeguard the security and integrity of sensitive business data in addition to installing, troubleshooting, and configuring database instances, replication, storage, etc.

Responsibilities / Essential Duties:

  • Install, configure, and manage SQL Servers
  • Install SQL Server and Windows updates regularly
  • Ensure all databases are backed up regularly to meet recovery point objectives (RPO)
  • Ensure all databases have proper and regular maintenance done such as re-indexing and integrity checks
  • Configure and setup custom dashboards, alerts, and reports using SSIS/SSRS/PowerShell
  • Monitor, identify, and troubleshoot SQL Server issues
  • Deploy database change scripts provided by other departments
  • Performance tuning/monitoring
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the SQL Server environments
  • Ensure that new database code meets company standards
  • Advise and work with developers on the most efficient database designs
  • Review index usage and missing indexes regularly to improve performance
  • Being last line of support for development and support teams
  • Document the SQL Server environments
  • Participate in on-call 24/7 rotation

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • SQL Server - All current versions
  • SSIS
  • SSRS
  • Windows (including clustering)
  • PowerShell
  • Development skills
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously
  • Problem-solving abilities and ability to meet reasonable deadlines
  • Strong team player, ability to build positive and collaborative relationships within the ConnectWise organization
  • Willingness to develop professionally
  • Ability to work under general supervision
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required

Education / Previous Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree may be required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area
