Kforce has a client in search of a Database Administrator in Alpharetta, Georgia (GA).


The Database Administrator creates and maintains table indexing, views, backups, SQL server log reviews/error corrections, database creation, and changes and scheduled replication of databases. The position keeps the database up and running smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

The Database Administrator works to maintain the efficiency of the servers and will ensure data security to help maintain the integrity of sensitive business data. Basic software engineering knowledge is preferred as the position may provide basic support for coding, testing, implementation, and support of custom software applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement, configure, and troubleshoot database instances, replication, backup, partitions, storage, and access
  • Set user privileges within the database environment
  • Monitor and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain a database system
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
  • Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
  • Maintain database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required
  • Provide basic support for coding, testing, implementation, and support of custom software applications
  • Act as software engineer backup resource when necessary


  • Bachelor's degree in a computer discipline or relevant certification
  • 3 to 5 years work experience in similar role
  • Experience with MS SQL Server to include SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Knowledge and experience with relational DBMS concepts, design, architecture, and operations
  • Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL
  • Knowledge of database design, documentation, and coding
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically
  • Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task and adapt to changing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to adjust and interact with all levels of personnel and customers
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance
  • Microsoft C# is preferred
  • Microsoft Azure/Azure SQL is preferred
