The Data Visualizations Engineer at Verimatrix will work with data that enables video analytics for video content delivered via satellite, cable, or the Internet.  The person creates beautiful, meaningful and data-oriented visualizations with a variety of visualization tools and techniques for Business Intelligence, Operational Intelligence and Security Intelligence.  The visualizations engineer collaborates with teams and understands data models to deliver high-performing and high-quality data visualizations for the company and our customers.  We are a global company and appreciate people with global awareness and knowledge (languages other than English are a bonus). 

Some tasks the Visualizations Engineer will perform: 

  • Build beautiful, user-focused, interactive, responsive and action-specific data visualizations that allow people to understand our complex video-generated data, derive meaning and action
  • Act as a ‘data translator’ for our data, enabling data-generated insights to be easily communicated across customers and organizations
  • Add value to Verspective, our customer-facing suite of analytics products, through visualizing different aspects and domains of video data
  • Provide independent input into visualizing data and visual data analytics for Verspective products
  • Deliver results quickly with iteration and strive for the right visualizations outcomes
  • Partner with data engineers, data architect, data scientists and other teams to develop core datasets that empower BI, OI and SI analyses
  • Build rich and dynamic dashboards using out-of-the-box features and custom-built visualizations
  • Develop a deep understanding of relational and NoSQL data models
  • Continuously find and assess new technologies, libraries, and tools to constantly improve on work, data visualizations and visualization methods and techniques
  • RequiredQualifications:
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 5 years of engineering and building data visualizations and interactive user experiences, working with BI tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, OBIEE, BusinessObjects or similar, OR 5 years of experience as a front-end developer working with data presentations
  • Extensive experience in utilizing JavaScript (React, node, Angular, D3), Tableau, R, Python, REST, HTML5 and othertechnologies to perform analyses and create data visualizations
  • Expertise in SQL
  • Solid understanding of data models, relational databases, and ideally NoSQL technologies
  • Superior communication skills
  • Proven track record of using data analyses to impact business decisions through charts, graphs or interactive web techniques
  • Portfolio of aesthetically attractive data visualizations to engage and enlighten a larger audience
  • Flexibility and ability to take suggestions and requirements from product management, engineering as well as customers and stakeholders and make necessary design adjustments
  • Familiarity with data visualizations best practices
  • Curiosity and self-learning

Each of the Following would be a Plus:

  • NoSQL experience (e.g., search, columnar, graph)
  • Statistical modeling
  • Data science algorithms
  • Data visualization tools and software such as Kibana/Banana, ZoomData, Platfora, Datameer, etc
  • Coding experience
  • Cloud infrastructure/services experience (AWS)
