Job Description:

Responsible for enabling analysis, modeling, and optimization through producing information products. Involved in the research and development efforts. Primary requirement is not related to traditional programming or systems analysis skills, but to the ability to support the creation of sophisticated, value-added analytic systems that support revenue generation, risk management, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, portfolio management, and research. These systems must overcome issues of complex data (e.g., VLDB, multi-structured, "big data", etc.) as well as deployment of advanced techniques (e.g., machine learning, text mining, statistical analysis, etc.) to deliver insights. This role often possesses a degree in hard science or another heavy quantitative business or social discipline. Able to work independently or in a team on complex projects.

Bank of America is seeking a Data Scientist I to join the Consumer Operations team within Global Risk Analytics (GRA). GRA is a centralized Quantitative and Analytical team focused on enabling effective Risk and Capital management across the enterprise.

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to, the following:

• Conduct quarterly/monthly production execution of one or more models in consumer operations for CCAR and ALLL loss forecasting.

• Perform and execute business controls during forecasting cycles and monitor and remediate incoming data.

• Maintain and develop any new code/processes necessary to support data sourcing for model production

• Supports development and production of GRA Data Quality Controls dashboards, management reports, and ad hoc reporting

• Seek continuous process improvement, efficiency, and automation

• Respond to requests and ad hoc queries from business partners in timely fashion

• Work independently on projects with strict deadlines and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects

• Projects in consumer operations typically relate to:

• Working with business partners to support data needs for new model development

• New model implementation and testing

• Adoption of target state initiatives related to data and model execution

• Interface with a wide audience including peers, senior management, Model Risk Management, model developers, model implementation group, Forecast Administrators, Risk Technology, project managers, and colleagues within the Lines of Business (LoB)

Required Skills & Experience

• Master's degree in a quantitative field is required

• 3-5 years of quantitative finance experience, strong data analysis

• Strong attitude for independent critical thinking

• Very hands-on and detail oriented, "can-do" attitude

• Analytical ability and problem-solving skills

• Ability to liaison with internal team members and other stakeholders in order to drive results and achieve goals

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Must have Intermediate to advanced experience with SAS, Teradata SQL, Unix/Linux, Shell Scripting, and relational databases

• Additional experience with Python, C++, Hadoop HDFS, Vertica, Hive, Impala, Spark, and Pyspark preferred

• 3-5 years of experience querying, analyzing and manipulating large database tables (databases with billions of rows of data)

• Advanced proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience in a quantitative environment within financial services is preferred

• Experience in credit card or auto loan products

• Familiarity with CCAR, ALLL, CECL

• Mathematical/Statistical skills
