We are seeking talented, energetic and self-driven individuals to join our Sponsored Products team that is part of the Advertising Technology group and works closely with Amazon Search. The team owns systems that enhance user experience and improve monetization on Amazon's online & mobile search properties, including Amazon.com, by showing relevant sponsored products based on users' intent, context & behavior. Working with Amazon’s massive data repository, the team develops insights to power the systems that serve hundreds of millions of requests per day with stringent latency requirements in a fault-tolerant manner.
In this role, you will:
· Perform hands-on data analysis and modeling with huge data sets to develop insights that increase traffic monetization without compromising customer experience and balancing the impact to merchandise sales.
· Design and run regular A/B experiments that affect hundreds of millions of customers, evaluate the impact of your optimizations and communicate your results to various business stakeholders.
· Apply machine learning and data mining techniques to improve our targeting algorithms
· Be a member of the Amazon-wide Machine Learning Community, participating in internal and external Meetups, Hackathons and Conferences.
· Have unique exposure to technologies used in Search / Advertising / E-commerce platforms
· Work closely with economists to model the interaction between organic sales and sponsored content and to further evolve Amazon's marketplace.
· Participate in shaping the vision of Sponsored Products on Amazon and drive projects of high visibility across the organization.
· Have an opportunity to lead and mentor junior data scientists and grow as a team leader.

Basic Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics or related field
· At least 2 years applying Machine Learning techniques
· At least 2 years of experience with a statistical modeling tools (e.g., R).
· At least 2 years of experience with scripting languages like Python/Scala.
· At least 1 year of experience working with SQL and an RDBMS (such as Oracle) or Data Warehouses.
Preferred Qualifications:
· PhD in quantitative field with a strong Machine Learning background.
· Experience working with Internet-scale data sets and distributed computing tools (e.g., Map/Reduce, Hive, Spark)
· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
