Role: Data Science Sales Engineer/Consultant

Duration: Full time

Remote Opportunity (Consultant must be between NYC and Atlanta preferably in DC area)

US Citizen only


As our lead field consultant, you will:


  • Work with federal and top-tier commercial clients to identify data analysis problems which are currently not served by technologies like Splunk, Palantir, Elastic, ELK or SIEMs
  • Identify opportunities to build partnership relationships to help scale the qualification of sales opportunities and build an effective partner program for Gravwell deployments
  • Participate in team problem-solving efforts and offer ideas to solve client issues
  • Conduct relevant research, data analysis, and create reports for publication through the Gravwell Blog
  • Conduct research which can result in the presentation of papers at technology industry conferences (we want our employees to present at events, not just attend!)
  • Assist in proposal development, as requested
  • Actively expand consulting skills and professional development through training courses, mentoring, and daily interaction with clients
  • Identifying and defining statistical methods that help automate analytic decisions in the workflows
  • Identifying new data sets and articulating their value to the team, the client, and the workflows
  • Defining ways to applystatistics, probability, and machine-learning approaches to our analytic workflows and products



Qualifications Required:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience
  • In-depth experience with data analysis tools, ranging from Excel to SQL to Tableau
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly, succinctly, and in a manner that appeals to a wide audience
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation creation tools, as well as Internet research tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required US government security clearance for this role




  • Previous Federal Consulting experience
  • Experience with data visualization tools and graphics applications
  • Understanding of fundamental cloud computing concepts
  • Experience with Information Assurance concepts and processes within the Federal government
  • Knowledge of and experience with Federal security regulations, standards, and processes including FISMA, FIPS, NIST, and FedRAMP
  • Apache Kafka
  • Netflow aggregators, e.g. StealthWatch
  • Network monitoring systems, e.g. Bro, Suricata
  • Packet processing
  • Docker
  • Apache Jena
  • Apache Mesos
