Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, build and provide quality, maintenance, and production support of data processing pipelines and systems (real-time and batch)
  • Ensure data processing pipelines and systems are: secure, reliable, fault-tolerant, scalable, accurate and efficient; perform data analysis and provide extracts on large and complex data sets
  • Design, build, quality, maintenance, and production support of RESTful APIs
  • Data wrangling, including data cleaning, ETL, and feature extraction
  • Deliver automated functional tests on data processing pipelines and systems
  • Participate in and significantly contribute to assigned Agile team (e.g. standups, planning, peer reviews, etc.)
  • Collaborate within and outside assigned Agile teams; continuously seek opportunities to improve skillsets; provide on-call support (24x7) (may be rotational)
  • Proactively identify and communicate roadblocks and challenges; evaluate and suggest alternatives; support multiple projects and accommodate frequent interruptions and changing priorities

Job Qualifications


  • BS/BA degree in Information Systems or Computer Science (e.g. specialization: Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence/Visualization, databases, data science track), or equivalent experience required.


  • 4 years of related work experience to include two years of experience in a Data Engineer, ETL Developer or similar role
  • Significant experience in designing, building and operating in-production big data/stream processing and/or enterprise data warehouse
  • Experience with: large scale, concurrent applications; at least one compiled language (Java); building backend RESTful web services; a big data environment (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Impala, Solr, HBase, Kudu)


  • Familiarity with: Linux, DevOps and Micro-services architecture concepts and tools; common data science toolkits such as R and Python
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and strong understanding of Computer Science Fundamentals
  • Previous experience working with Agile and Lean practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
